Perhaps move your saddle forward?

• #628
as mentioned, I have tried every saddle position over the last 4 years and multiple saddles. I have tried it forward, all the way forward. I would need a gatson seatpost to go any further forward.
The only time I dont slide forward is if the saddle is tilted up.

The SMP should appear tilted up i.e. a noticeable dip in the middle. If it's right for you then you should not feel any pressure. You should be sitting "in" the saddle if ya get me?
For reference, to get mine spot on I have an inline post, the rails are set forward and i dropped my post by about 20mm. Bike looks funny now but it is comfortable. Although now I wonder if I could drop down 1 frame size.

I'm looking for a SMP that is the same shape/width as the Avant but with less padding, anyone know if that exists or which one is the closest match?
-
• #631
*The Avant uses a wider body than the other Selle SMP models. The extremely comfortable padding guarantees maximum comfort. It is covered in real leather. Avant is slightly shorter and equipped with a rather wide body. It is an excellent saddle for all those who want comfort. *

drakon is probably the widest thinly padded smp at 138 (?)
-
• #633
SMP pro is also widish, but still quite padded. There's a YouTube video comparing pro / avant range and other SMP that may help :)
-
• #634
The Forma is the same shape/shell as the Drakon (1mm difference) and less padded, basically just covered. The carbon-lite the same shape as them, but with zero-padding.

Has anyone got a spare padded one of these kicking about? Preferably of the narrower description, and black... Potentially an extra? Or one of the more up range ones that are svelte-er still...

Does anybody know how SMP Hell and Pro compare?
Pro seems fine to me, I might try other models too but whatever you do, leather ones cost £££. So, perhaps a Hell from Lordgun is the way to go...
-
• #637
Difference between Hell and Extra are very minimal.

• #638
OK the extra seems a bit narrow for me, but the Hell is supposed to be based on the Pro. Is it width wise you know? :)

how do the ebay carbon specials compare to the composit in terms of width?
I cant get on with my current smp (dynamic) as I think it is too wide.

how do the ebay carbon specials compare to the composit in terms of width?
Exactly the same, just no flex whatsoever on the carbon (which is oddly quite comfortable as long you have bibs).

Sounds good, can even do a post swap if needed. Drop me a PM.

I've got an old SMP Strike somewhere. Consigned to the saddle bag of history after trapping a nut in the rails circumnavigating RP during an hour of power some years ago.

Just wondering about seatpost compatibility. I am in need of an inline and would like to use a 3t ionic seatpost to match my finishing kit.
-
• #647
Then you'll have to choose an SMP model with round rails.
-
• #648
SMP strike equals SMP pro fit wise I find :)

Disappointingly I have a bruised backside after 230km yesterday on my Composit. Never really suffered from this before on previous saddles. Thinking of a last minute move to a Dynamic. Really, really pleased with the lack of numbness though

Lower saddle a little might help.
