If it felt comfortable, stick with it.

I posted this in the saddles discussion.
Maybe a SMP could solve my problems?Oh well.
It seems my arse and saddles just don't go well together.
I have been faffing around with my saddle position to reduce the pressure on soft tissues and I can't seem to find a proper position.
I have ridden a Fizik Arione VS for the last half year. it seems to fit the width (I have the sitbone width of a little child.. 9cm c-c), but due to its straight shape and in spite of the channel in the middle I am getting pressure.
I normally set up the angle straight (with a spirit level) and find myself sliding forward on the saddle or with the tiniest bit of nose-up and find myself sitting on my soft spots.
I have dropped the saddle height, which was some relief, and the saddle setback is set correctly (according to the knee-plumbers line-pedal axle method).
Any suggestions? any narrow saddle, that doesn't require a 100% aero position, doesn't put pressure where it doesn't belong and doesn't cost much? -

Certainly worth a try! I had serious issues with numbness on other saddles. Gone with smps.

ah, delivered one week earlier than estimated
have to admit I was a bit concerned as it was so cheap compared to the cheapest alternative (185 at bike24 vs 140e posted from italy) -
• #331
That's good to know, I was waiting to hear how you'd get on: the Italian post is notorious for, er... "losing" things.
EUR140 is a good price at any time, but right now is cheepz.
Repped for not faking it.

Got a Spez Oura 155, will report back with findings. The only thing that puts me off the SMP Pro is the looks/price really...now we shall see if my "bits" agree with my vanity/wallet.

did first short rides today. Feels great! Although on the first one the ground was really wet and I forgot my mudguard. The leather is has suprising amount of friction when wet and my inner thighs got pretty sore. Need to put some miles on it.
feels exactly like the carbon copy except it has flex and therefore feels suprisingly soft for a saddle with no padding.

Once you've all upgraded, would somebody sell me a smp hell saddle?

It really does in the middle, it made riding without bibshort a blessing compared to the fako.

yup I've moved my fake one to my orlowski with 40mm knards. Can't ride the fake in jeans without large tyres.

The difference between the regular Forma and the carbon railed Dynamic is like night and day.. Soaks up the road like a sponge..

I was given a bare carbon fake smp by someone whos upgraded to real and my observations are that the saddle rails arent the correct width apart to fit any of my seatposts properly. Also the real deal appears to have metal reinforcement of the rails where as the fake has silver paint. Otherwise it doesnt seem flimsy but in saying that its rock hard with no give.

LOL, or more likely OW.

Got a black SMP Forma in VG/excellent condition if anyone's interested.. Thanks, Tom

Weird. I just came here to ask that very thing... Is it metal/round railed? If so, I'm certainly interested. Shall PM you, Tom.

So started cycling on the Spez Oura.
So far no sore bits, so cutout is fine, but the nose does feel less comfy.
Its also harder but my sitbones seem hardy. So far SMP pro wins (bar on price) let's wait n see...

I reckon I'm gonna go for a dynamic. For those whose google-fu is more developed than mine, is Bike24 generally the best bet given current exchange rates?

So, went for a 14 mile cycle today on the Oura.
Conclusion: Mild irritation "downstairs" very very mild, wearing jeans.
But I've done the same route on the SMP Pro in jeans and no irritation at all. Conclusion: Selle SMP > Spez. If they didn't look so spectacularly ugly on my tiny bikes... (big massive droopy saddle on tiny frame, le not so nice).
Just need to follow Tester's advice and put something over it for photos :p

Jeans are hardly going to help the situation

^ is this the latest Tour test? I think their standards are slipping.

Of course they're better, (padded shorts) but I don't have the issue on the SMP...
I might have posted it before - but I have now exchanged to this saddle on 3 of my bikes. I'm a hater of Arione, SLR & Flite - if you are as well try the cheap sucker http://m.aliexpress.com/item/32277241241.html
