I'm saying that he didn't, you are saying that he probably would have.
Point being, he didn't.

• #753
Cheers! If we're allowing flying starts, then it was 37.12km. NP was only 229W though, which is at least 40W down from where it should be. I'm definitely blaming the second bottle of wine...

you are saying that he probably would have
No, I'm saying he almost certainly did
36.96 in an hour (return leg, no drafting, fixed gear) within the last year

No flying starts and crawling through old strava rides isn't exactly stepping up to the Listener's Hour challenge is it?
-
• #757
@xavierdisley's leg trips on and you'll do 46k... :)

Alex Dowsett has confirmed his attempt for Saturday, 2nd of May. I think it's in Manchester rather than London.
-
• #759
Yep, definitely Manchester.
-
• #760
All about the leg strips. If I get the chance Sunday I might do a ~60min training effort at Aldersley but I'm racing the day before so may be a bit knackered.

I accidentally just did an hour attempt. A 35.4km loop before dinner, arriving home in 1.00.15. There were junctions and shit. And even a train. I think I'd have done at least 46km if it wasn't for all that.

june 7th it is

I hope he shaves first.

• #766
I would disqualify him as an top-athlete if he doesn't after watching the performance gain in the WIN-tunnel.
Edit: or was it at actually neglible, fuck that shit #wiggo4president

• #767
Beards make little difference. Leg hair removed makes a big difference. But they'd need to do more testing to really know - not sure their tunnel is sensitive enough so there might be a difference, they just can't detect it.
It's more the fact that I was rocking dodgy facial hair before all these pros. Same as Sky stealing CS Grupetto colours. Is nothing sacred?! :P

Hope Dowsett smashes it, then Wiggo smashes it then Bobridge sacks his coach and smashes it. Or Durbridge has a crack and brings it back to Oz (presuming these two will beat Rohan's mark)

Like a wonderful fairytale (I like fairytales)

Should be a good atmosphere in the velodrome. Anyone planning on going? Hopefully tickets aren't too pricey.
-
• #771

Same weekend as Peaty's Steel City DH, which is far more entertaining.

Yes,
Alex Dowsett has confirmed his attempt for Saturday, 2nd of May. I think it's in Manchester rather than London.
Why not? If the start and finish were on opposite sides of the road, he just has to trim the first and last bits to get a 1h segment with equal out and back legs, he only needs to pick up 0.1kmh on his average and the flying start should easily see to that.
