  • If Ganna doesn't put the record out of reach for years that 3D printed bike might not be great value for money. (not that it was to start with!)

  • He’s reported to have done 35 minutes at 56.3 km/h pace.

  • Saturday at 18:45 UK time here?

It's 3D printed because that's cheaper than making moulds if you're only making one or two.

  • Even I can do 3.5 minutes at 56.3 km/h pace.

    Oh.

  • I can do 3.5 minutes at 56.3 km/h

If you find a big enough hill to go down 🙂

  • i reckon it will take him an hour

  • Curious what was mentioned in the article and the video about the frame that prompted it to be removed. Even before the H*mbini video could come out!

  • Is this the point at which I state yet again that UCI regulation 1.3.006 remains in farce:
"The use of equipment designed especially for the attainment of a particular performance
(record or other) shall not be authorised"

  • Couldnt you go around that by "introducing" the custom limited edition additive manufactured frameset from "Pinarello" for $100k a pop? An maybe that was the plan, but in the video they specifically said that the frame was designed only for this attempt?

  • Haven't they got a year to make it available to the public or something

  • Haven't they got a year to make it available

By any normal interpretation*, the order of the regulation says you can use an authorised prototype which is of a design which is close to a final commercial product, but one designed especially for the attainment of a particular performance will not be authorised. All the equipment suppliers know that the regulations are going to be ignored, which is why the marketing departments loudly trumpet that this frame/skinsuit/helmet/sock has been designed specifically to achieve the record.
If they wanted to pretend they were trying to comply with the regulations, they could get the prototype authorised as a pre-production example of the commercial pursuit frame they were definitely going to bring to market within a year, and it's entirely coincidental that their most prominent test and evaluation rider happened to use it for a record attempt.

*UCI has no clue how to do "normal"

  • I think the link to the UCI feed I posted is pay per view because it’s gone private. Ineos will be streaming it too.

    #marginalgains

  • Think he's warmed up now, into the 16.1s

  • Mucoff promotion 55% off for an hour
    GANNA55

  • He’s looking smooth, and speeding up at 30 mins!

  • The Boardman record is looking seriously under threat.

  • Would be unreal if he broke that

  • He’s still accelerating. 15.3 lap.

  • Is he going for 57kph?!

  • I think over 58 at the moment
