No I don't think so, I heard about some but thought they were 40+ or older attempts
-
• #1328
Might be others through the week then I guess?
-
• #1329
I know of some, yep. I've had a couple of emails over the weekend about others elsewhere too, nice to see the Hour get a bit of a resurgence

Pulled off The Listeners' Hour this evening

Why 35.325km? This is the distance of the first ever hour record, set on the Buffalo Velodrome in Paris by Henri Desgrange in 1893. By riding further than this you'll not only know what it’s was like to have been the fastest cyclist in the world in 1893 but you'll have beaten the man who dreamed up the Tour de France and ran the race during its most brutal, punishing era.

Ah that's cool

John Madden 4/10/15 apparently? Saw YouTube promo vid.
P.s. met your team rider Eric today, nice guy.
-
• #1334
Eric is cool, great to have on the team and had some super results for us this year.
That John Madden guy looks like he'll be on for a 40+ record, maybe 50+? He'll have a job trying to beat the 45+ record ... in fact both Jayson's and Chas' records are solid too. 55+ is much more doable.

Record Attempt at Newport Tomorrow
There are so many hour records it's hard to keep up.
My clubmate Rob Gilmour is going for the UCI 60 -64 age group record tomorrow, and I'll be among his supporters. I intend to do a report - I'll post a link when it's up.Incidentally, this is an expensive business because apart from the cost of the track it's necessary to have a UCI observer and an official dope test. I'd have thought just being able to ride at speed for an hour at 64 would be pretty conclusive evidence that you hadn't been doping.

• #1337
Good luck. What distance is he hoping?
-
• #1338
Sorry, can't remember off hand, but he's very methodical and I think he's confident he can do it. He did a little over 25 miles at Reading last year for a club record without any apparent stress.

Wooo! Just realised that I've accidentally accomplished that 'listeners hour' challenge :-D LOL
At Middlesbrough velodrome I was cycling round the outside of the velodrome and did 37km in exactly an hour of riding. It was a fun ride although I discovered, after about 40 minutes or so, that my current saddle is very uncomfortable if you're sat on it for any length of time.

Congrats! Hope to get a 40 on road bars, fixed and paved roads within 2016.

The editor of VeloNews (Chris Case) had a go recently in Boulder. Nearly did 46km which was a cracking effort, I've got his splits so will do an analysis as I think they're chucking it into the magazine or on the website. Apparently someone turned his Garmin off on the start line whilst holding his saddle so no power, oops.
At World Masters there are two attempts on the 50-54 record which is interesting as a) it's solid and b) what happens if the first guy knocks it out the park!

Gilmour Gets His Hour
A report will follow, but this picture says most of it.
Sorry, the picture won't load. I will try tomorrow.
The basic facts are:
60-64 age group, old record was 44.228 k, Rob Gilmour today, 44.349k.
-
• #1343
He must be stoked after what must've been a tonne of preparation and formalities. Well done Rob!
-
• #1344
That is a super distance, cracking stuff. Pretty sure I've seen him a few times training at Newport!
-
• #1345
I've got some interesting (I hope ) pictures, but nothing will load. I've reduced the file size so that they should be acceptable. Any suggestions? Is it me or is there some problem at the moment with lfgss?
-
• #1347
as rhb says it's cumbersome
-
• #1348
It looks like the Belgian guy is going to get the record 23s up at 57 mins / 184laps. (Unless I'm badly misreading things!)

As you will know, the 60-64 mens figure above is already out of date.
It has taken me a long time to do the report of Rob's ride, but I've just sent it off. I will post a link as soon as it appears.
Grapevine innit. Is it supposed to be under wraps? Can edit to remove if so.
