I don't know there kinda like piles cushions? Ha! Can't eat a concor @hudsoncjnr.
Had a a couple of friends do the cycle to work thing and they seem happy?! I'd make use of it if I had the option.

Wrong?

Nope not enjoying it. Not enjoying the whole bike to be totally honest, very uncomfortable. I've always just assumed I need a certain size bike, maybe it's time for a bike fit. Think I need an uber t-rex
-

I know the feeling, to be completely honest it's the main reason I got rid of the Jamis, I just couldn't be comfy on it - unlike my Pink rat!
-
• #31
That's been the general consensus with all my previous bikes, I have never had a comfortable one (apart from my brief stint on Alex's STP!). I used to think it was my back but I don't think it is anymore
-
• #32
STP's still an option! Matt hasn't got his hands on the wheels yet!
-
• #33
STP?
I think I'm going to get a road bike people.......
-
• #34
The two fixed bikes i had before my Orbit were longer than they were tall so it really hurt my back, swapping to my Orbit which has a shorter top tube than seat tube it's much comfier!

Don't do it!
-
• #36
Haha, blame @jakjakjak!
I think I would get on well with one, I'm speed obsessed and want to cover bigger distances and if I bought another track bike it'd still just do what the one I already have does!
If I bought a Planet X track bike is end up having a silly gear on it and spending a fortune on making it look how I want...
I think I will end up respraying the Caminada it's original colour and putting nice wheels and silver bits on it then that's "finished" and then over the winter I'll start building up a roadie for the summer.
Then again there's every chance I'll change my mind again tomorrow!
-
• #37
I'm still tempted but I'd need to buy quite a few bits for it.. And I'm not sure if I could live with those hubs!
@hudsoncjnr I agree, having a Px and the Caminada would be pointless
-
• #38
The Caminada will look nice completely re-done, and now i see your reasoning i think i'd agree with it, if you wanna go further gears would probably be a better idea!
Look forward to see what you get!
-
• #39
I'm tempted by a Steamroller or a Cross Check SS. Steamroller would look nicer, CC would give the flexibility of having gears at a later date
-
• #40
I see your point, kind of, but it's going to take a lot more money to get a road bike up to the spec that you'd want for covering long distances comfortably and also having something that looks flash. I say ride the Caminada until you feel you're mechnically limited by the speed/distance you can ride - if you consistently feel let down by not having gears then go for it, but I'd be surprised if you were.
My logic is that age/injury will mean I have to give up riding fixed at some point, so I may as well grind up hills while I'm young, then I can spend my 50s being a lame roadie with a really nice bike, but having nowhere near as much fun.

Secretly this is my other reason, my left knee really gives me shit if I mash up hills - to the point where I'm in pain for a good few days afterwards...
Planet X also happen to do some pretty badass looking roadbikes, two birds - one stone
-
• #42
Beside you don't need gears to ride long distances. Granted it may take a bit longer but I've done two Dynamos (116 miles) and 3 Norwich 100's SS without any problems.

Then buy a 17t cog and gear down a bit first before spending a grand on a road bike? You can still ride as fast, you just have to spin a bit more.

Also, too much bike talk here, this is a strictly donut lovin' zone.
-
• #46
I had a cheese monster bagel with bacon at the DH for lunch, it was ridiculous
-
• #47
Thanks! The bucket is a very similar shape to the turbo though, wondering whether it'd be a bit of a waste or not. Or just get a whole new bike. Or just not ride a bike anymore.
I'm just grumpy because I'm tired and I want doughnuts
-
• #48
I get grumpy when I'm hungry and when I'm hungry I eat crap which makes me grumpy...repeat ad infinitum
-
• #49
On an unrelated note, Ben tells me you're the showroom manager, is that right?
-
• #50
Business manager yeah...I'm in charge of the sales staff, whys that?
You not loving the turbo?
