it's nice to know more black cabs are using cameras
if you ever get hit by a taxi check if they have dashcam fitted should help prove evidence for a conviction if required
thanks taxi drivers -

The lack of location/time/date information in the original post also made me suspicious, giving a location would make most sense if you genuinely wanted to find that person. But I'd really like to see the 1 or 2 minutes of video leading up to that incident (but I'm sure that's been "deleted" by now, or some other excuse) I'd expect this isn't the start of it.
Even then, the video shows nothing of the alleged incident. It almost looks staged (who would just leave a bike?) and posted here in order to get publicity for the video (and youtube channel); there's advertising revenue to be had after all.
If the incident is genuine (ha!) then it's bordering on victim blaming to say it was the driver's fault for poor road positioning. So what if he's slightly blocking the cycle lane? OMG. Call the police, someone with poor road positioning! That doesn't give people the right to (allegedly) crash into you and cause damage (if that even happened).
Pulling over and parking on the advisory cycle lane after an alleged crash because someone is looking to run off from without swapping details? Don't see a problem with that, depends on your interpretation of "unavoidable". If it were me, and I wanted to park quickly, then it's probably what I would do (based on what I can see in the video alone).

"oh cool, you're from New York! Do you know Paul?"

I think the point somebody made earlier was that the highway code states you shouldn't ever encroach on the cycling lane unless absolutely necessary, If there was a car parked forcing the taxi onto the cycle lane, he should have stopped before the parked car and still in his lane. When the lights changed, he should have moved off slowly and briefly gone into the cycle lane, not parked in it.
I don't know what kind of idiot would cycle straight into a taxi though, cycle lane or not.
Your footage unfortunately (for you) is not evidence and doesn't show any kind of offence taking place. The first time we see the cyclist is when you're trying to pull his bike from him, which you succeed in doing and he leaves on foot. So you basically only caught yourself stealing a pedestrian's bike. The scratches could well have been there before and nows your opportunity to get it repaired free (in your eyes).
I really would leave it if I were you. -

"no, you pulled into my cycle lane..."
I think that's a big hint to what may have happened but, unfortunately, there is no evidence regardless of who was in the wrong. All I see is a video of someone stealing a bicycle.

I agree and have not excused anything the cyclist is supposed to have done.
My point is that the driver looks to be seeking a confrontation and has deliberately and needlessly blocked the cycle lane: "punishment parking"?
Either way, the whole thing is quite implausible: the cyclist isn't in much of a hurry to get away (calmly waiting to cross the road, instead of legging it around the corner) and the driver makes no effort to catch him.
Something else now occurs to me: are the Luffguss TaxiWarrior and the YouTube TaxiWarrior the same person, or is this all the work of a mega-troll? TW seems pretty clued-up about the forum.
Jeez, I just don't know...

it's in knightsbridge no ? i use to cycle there regularly, basically cabs and other cars ignore that cycle lane because it's super short, and also it's knightsbridge.

The only thing this video shows is you deliberately moving your car into the path of a cyclist and knocking him over in order to stop him leaving (from 23 seconds). I'm not saying the cyclist didn't hit your car, but you have provided zero evidence to that effect.

Exactly. @TaxiWarrior I didn't see any evidence of the person in question scratching your cab. How do we know that scratch pictured is even yours?
I think we need a selfie of you, taken in front of the scratch on your cab, with LFGSS written on top of today's copy of The Sun (I'm sure you have it).

His English also does not sound great in his videos yet perfectly fluent in writing

Instead of wasting your time with this useless video you could have bought a 5 quid touch up stick and moved on with life.
Nice way to steal a bike tho.

@TaxiWarrior: While I do not condone leaving the scene, I did not see the alleged incident. However, what I do see evidence of here is a taxi driver intentionally blocking a broken white line, you are only, legally, allowed to do this if you cant avoid driving over it. You could have pulled ahead behind the vehicle in front and not blocked the bike line. You would have already known there was a cyclist approaching this segment, having passed him a few seconds ago. Why you would intentionally block this lane, given that there was enough space for you and the cyclist to move forward a considerable distance, I can only guess. Is there evidence of the "scratch" existing before the encounter? You mention similar situations with cyclists happening numerous times to you before, I urge you to drive with more care and attention.

Odd that the London 24 story claims the 'cyclist had a bad case of road rage'. What road rage would that be?
-
• #147
I guess a bad case of 'holy fuck I'm being assaulted' isn't quite so snappy.
-
• #148
It doesn't have the same ring to it I must agree.

fuck bikes and taxis. bunch of menaces on the road.
