  • Nice work!

I was tempted to buy some of the patent black for the less sunny days but the only other size they have for me is the silver. I'm still tempted as they seem like good value at 40% off.

  • I love em. Very very comfy.

  • I've some black empires in 43. Fit great but I'm struggling with the full black look so would sell them to fund some white ones if anyone is interested. Used maybe half a dozen times so some marks and whatnot but still v good condition.

Alternatively, does anyone know where you can get replacement laces? I was thinking maybe some white or red laces would tone the black down a bit; but cant find anything of similar length, width and elasticity.

    Jon

  • I use hiking laces. The thickness and shape (rounder) makes them easier to tighten down the vamp with one pull and they have excellent elasticity.

  • Ah - thanks, that makes sense. I'll give that a try

  • Anybody got a set of spare orange Giro Empire laces they haven't used and want to sell me?

  • .

  • or know of anywhere to buy some?

  • I might some spare laces from mine, I can't remember what colour they are. If they are orange then you can have them.

  • That would be awesome. Thanks mate!

  • What are people using to keep their white-ladies looking crispy?

  • I keep my white Fizik R3B's clean by wearing my black empires when its crappy outside.

  • Ha!

    Do you paint shoes?

  • Late, I know. Are you still trying to shift these @cookiemonster ?

  • Hi, yes - sent you a pm

  • Want!

  • Anyone know the reasoning behind giro having a massive delay for their heel replacement.

So far we have a 2 month wait.

  • Brexit

  • So I want some Empires pretty badly, I can't get them locally (IE try them on first, and I hate the hassle of returning things)
    I can get either 44s or 45s.
I have a pair of giro republics in size 44, they fit well, except the toe box is a tiny bit narrower than would be ideal for my paddle like feet. Should I go up to 45s for the empires, or stick to the 44s?

  • Empires size up smaller than Republics (think "race fit" v "commuter fit"). For me, 43 Empires are perfect, whereas I need to wear thicker merino socks with my 43 Republics.

Empires also come in half sizes (unlike Republics), so if a 44 Republic is on the tight side, then your best bet is likely a 44.5 Empire

I've been waiting since September last year. I was initially told January, then April, then each month it gets pushed back to the next month.

I had someone at Zyro check their warranties department for me and they didn't have any either.

I ended up buying a new pair of shoes.

  • I was lucky enough to find some at condor, but yeah i think there is something either really wrong with production at giro atm.

  • Well they can certainly make enough to go on the bottom of all the shoes they sell but not as a spare part! Really weird.

  • Where did you order from? I ordered a set in black, EU44 from Tredz on November 2015 - they dispatched them May 2016.

I went through a similar experience to you (pushed back each successive month), but at least I got them in the end. It may be worth contacting a different retailer!

  • Before I check eBay and stuff, does anyone have the Empire ACC in 41.5 for sale? In white with the black logo would be ace, inverted or black on black is cool, too.
The Mavic Cosmic Elite I have right now fit fine lengthwise but are a bit too shallow (41 1/3)
