Why is it that the ITV player works seamlessly when the adverts are on but not during the actual TDF show?

Yellow jersey 4 mins from the breakaway, so assume Froome is safe.

He has all his team around him.

Fucksake.
Tour coverage has stopped, to be replaced with a Spanish drama called "Rex" about a police dog.
Utter cuntos

Sean Kelly with some really incisive analysis just now - "It's much easier descending than climbing except for the riders who are really really not really very good at descending"

Porte got caught behind the Contador crash and couldn't get back up to Froome.
Not sure what Roche was doing, presumably was told to ride to the finish as Froome was okay.

Why is it that the ITV player works seamlessly when the adverts are on but not during the actual TDF show?
Boringly, two main reasons:-
a) The adverts, since they aren't live, are buffered in advance by lots of different CDN nodes. If the ITV player in your browser has a problem getting to one source it can try another to get served the required advert. The footage is live so it can't be buffered in as many places, and not in advance.
b) Many advertisers pay based on proof that their adverts have been served, so they're a priority over the live footage. -

I am excited about the shoelaces of Montvernier. Rode up them last year, really enjoyed it.

You couldn't have been going fast enough.
-
• #2572
Yes thank you again for getting me out of the bus on that day!
-
• #2573
I would have liked to go faster but had promised to not drop fussballclub who was feeling a bit rough that day.
I enjoy suffering though obviously so if I had gone faster I would have enjoyed it even more.

I bet he's still to return that favour?

Ooh - Bertie putting in a big attack. How long can he last?
Their two up the road tactic didn't really work yesterday, did it? Porte was too knackered to be much use when he dropped back, and Roche was... what was he doing? He finished 10th ish, right?
