I didn't understand a word of that.

The twitterati are going nuts.

Where can I watch the vid now?

So no one managed to upload the video anywhere else before it was removed?

The allegation that Sky were hacked is worrying. Is it an admission that the data is authentic?
-
• #1334
If you were minded to obtain data through hacking, would your morals allow you to then modify that data to suit your agenda?
-
• #1335
They got the data from Training Peaks allegedly, not from Sky. Could have been obtained in numerous ways:
- Hack TP to have access to all data for anyone (unlikely)
- Target an TP account that has access to Froome's data either by 'hacking' or social engineering someone who has that access (maybe)
- Find it because someone accidentally left it, a link to it, or login credentials lying around (e.g. unscrubbed laptop) or a URL visible in a PowerPoint presentation (possibly)
- Get it from someone who works at TP itself (most likely)
- Hack TP to have access to all data for anyone (unlikely)

And did they really only get the data from one stage? Or just the one stage where the heart rate looked odd? And is there a theory about what kind of doping affects the heart rate in that way? Etc, etc, etc.

I reckon it was a problem with Sky's cloud computing.

As far as I have read, there's nothing particularly suspicious about the data? Certainly the power output is innocuous, 388 watts, 5.9w/kg (not that I understand those numbers, just that is within acceptable parameters).

A motor comes to mind, but I really don't think Sky's doping.

That's why my guess would be they found it via an unobscured URL in a PowerPoint presentation or on an ex-Sky laptop or similar.
You can get access to any TP activity as long as you know the link to it, but the links are made up of 26 base-36 characters (e.g. trainingpeaks.com/av/IQ7PABAD7CPABCDIBFLIQXB34Q - made up link, no point following it). That's roughly 2^135 possible links so the chance of finding any activity by plugging in random characters is very low, the chance of finding Froome's activities is staggeringly low.
Most of the other possibilities I can think of would mean they have access to all of his data (or all of TP's data) which is very unlikely or they've been holding on to it for ages and only just now decided to do something with it (again, unlikely).

One bit I read is that the power jumped up massively (~600W to ~1000W) with seemingly no increase in HR. But, as @andyp says, both the power or HR data could easily be modified to make it say anything you like.
Certainly the power output is innocuous, 388 watts, 5.9w/kg (not that I understand those numbers, just that is within acceptable parameters).
Assuming that's FTP then 5.9W/kg puts him, unsurprisingly, in the "World Class" bracket:-

Isn't this the same data that was given to L'Equipe in 2013?
http://www.theguardian.com/sport/2013/jul/18/team-sky-chris-froome-dataAnyway RACING today. See what Quintana is made of.
-
• #1344
That is what I assumed, the same data given to Grappe to analyse
-
• #1345
So the only suspicious thing is the heart rate? I've read that it moves from 155 to 162, which is considered low, but plenty of people lining up saying there's nothing that wrong with it either. I am confuse.

God this is some shit;
http://www.cyclingnews.com/blogs/marc-madiot/marc-madiot-blog-motorhome-go-homeSo because some teams are richer they can't get a motorhome? What about going on a training camp? Or eating better food.
Money talks. All teams should be allowed motorhomes if they want. The hotels they're forced to stay in are fucking dives.
Teams already use helicopters and private jets. It's a sign of the times how far behind modern sport is that this is not more widely the case.
-

I'm sympathetic to the equality argument. However, ignoring that: Where will they park all the motorhomes? People are already moaning about Sky taking up all the space with their 30-vehicle convoy. What will happen when every team has 9+ RVs pulling up?
There are too many cars in the tour already.
And that tweet is a cheap shot and not very tasteful. I generally like him, but that's a bit much.
Huzzah, someone hacked Froome Dog's power files off Training Peaks and then put them over the Ventoux stage and revealed HR straps are a bit crap
