1939 Holdsworth La Variable

How's the paintwork holding up? I have a Hobbs that needs a repaint in that colour.

This paint is not original. Almost certain about that.
It is holding up well except around nuts.

No I meant your repainted one.

oh. So far so good, but it is sooo easy to chip. I am being extra careful in handling and had to touch it up 5 times already :/

What about this stem on the La Variable?

The stem in the image in the catalogue is a bit raised, so this should make the part, shouldn't it?

I'd recognise that handwriting anywhere! What year is the stem and what is it?!?

I think what makes it look raised in the catalogue is the headtube angle, as the stem angle looks to be 90 degrees. But ultimately it's what makes it comfortable for you that counts.

Cheap considering the price of new bikes today

Hi anielo, I think I've got a coventry chain and an old 1950's B15 ( same shape as a B17 but tougher leather). I might have a few other bits too, but not in London.

Also, are you rims 28" or 26", most road/club bikes had 26x1 1/4 back then i think? I did up a raleigh Lenton a while back form he 1950's..

Truly that is a wonderful frame anielo, i will be watching your progress on this one..

I wrote it wrong, the ones I've got are 27" 1 1/4 but yeah, you're right, they should be 26" 1 1/4
