Hydraulics innit.

Ya I know, but could they not have made them a slightly less awful shape? I know they have to squeeze the master cylinder in somewhere, but there must be a better way than that.

They're fugly enough to guarantee someone will better that design. That bike is pure anti.
For early adopters only.

Shimano have managed to make theirs look alright.

The other way is to mount it horizontally under the hood instead of the top, which result in a very long hood;
You'd need to run a shorter stem to make used of it (-10mm), great for wrapping your entire hand on though, it's that long.

I reckon so, the R685 look a little bloated, but not too displeasing;

Yuk all round. Turd polishing.
The Sramondale on the last page actually looks worse than it should because the levers and bars have been set up by a Halfords-level mechanic

Lies. The toaster is clearly the best thing since sliced bread.
All hail the toaster; metamorphosising bread into toast since 19somethingsomething -
• #385
I reckon they had to do that just to offset the colossal horns the hoods would make if they were installed correctly.

People kill people, Ed.

The better design is probably the forthcoming leccy version.

Sure.
There is something to be said for developing products before selling them to the public. Ironing out issues such as 'massive horns' etc from shifter designs :0

'massive horns'
Ah, my first euph of the day ^_^

You missed this from Scoble:
great for wrapping your entire hand on though, it's that long

Pretty much everything he says is wrapped up in depravity.
look a little bloated, but not too displeasing

Build the hydro-cylinders in to a dedicated stem... like an integrated Hope V-twin.
It's a bad idea before I'd even finished typing but I'm going to acknowledge my failure so others can learn from it.

• #395
tbh if you think the current crop of hydro-SRAM levers are bad, I can't wait to see the Hydro-Wireless hoods...
-
• #396
£5 says the electronic shifting mechanisms will be smaller than mechanical and @Mechamorgan didn't think that post through either.

Having seen the price of the Chronicle now, I've changed my mind... £110 from Charlie... Yikes!
The greatest thing ever since sliced bread.
