  • Rethink: 26" inch fork probably has canti studs at wrong height for a 700c wheel.

    So 26" =bad idea.

    (Sorry, used to disc forks. where you can swap out nearly whatever wheel size you like... :))

  • I would like a complete frame-set and not to bother with respraying etc. I just want the fully-integrated unit - what can I say!

    I have two nice 700c wheels with 120mm Level hubs, a VO porteur rack that attaches to front fork eyelets, SKS mudguards and a bunch of other kit to do the build with. Just can't find a damn frame! The San Sebastian looks lovely. I am currently riding a 58cm LHT and that fits fine, if maybe a smidgeon long in the TT, but the standover / BB are both a lot lower.

  • Not exactly the nicest frame by any reach, but the Kilo WT seems to fit the bill for the most part. Clearance for mudguards and largish tires, eyelets, 120 rear spacing, and relatively cheap to boot.

    You'll have to email them to see how much shipping across the pond would be, or find their Ebay page and see if they'll do shipping to you through there.

    Another option is the Nashbar SSCX frame. Also 'stateside, and to my understanding is sold as a completed bike. Parts aren't too terrible for what you get, good to delegate to a beater or sell off for cheap. I've got the Nashbar SSCX built up with full guards, rack, large tires etc and it does a pretty good job. A bit of toe overlap on the 52cm that I got but a larger size shouldn't have that issue. Pictured are 45c Specialized Fatboys and 50mm Chromoplastics. It's got loads of tire clearance and running it fixed is a delight.

Their website has full geo charts, at a glance looks quite reasonable - 73.5/73.5 angles in large sizes, more fun than a pompino around town perhaps.

  • To be honest it sounds like the OP doesn't really know enough about bikes and wants a do it all fixeh. Go and buy a cheapish bike that ticks most of your boxes, and ride the crap out of it and then decide what you.do or don't want to change and then come back here asking questions.

    So far multiple solutions have been offered and each time get a "yes, but" response.

  • Yes, but most of the frames mentioned don't fit my requirements. I'm happy to patiently bide my time till I find one. I already have a bike and ride the crap out it. The Kilo WT and San Sebastian both come closest to what I'm after.

    Kind of amazed that nobody does single-speed frames with full rack 'n' fender eyelets front and back on 'em! And a square fork god dammit! It's cool to have a thread documenting all these options anyway. Thanks for the help, gonna check out that ebay seller now.

  • I suggested one - they come up for sale regularly so you'd have to keep an eye out and you'd definitely have been able to buy one before now - that fits all your requirements but you just ignored me.

    Another option would be to get a Bob Jackson Vigorelli and have them add the rack mounts and the correct fork crown. It's not OTP but it's close and you'd have the bike you want.

    The reason why they don't do "square" is because it's inferior.

    Unicrown is lighter, stronger and easier to build.

  • Buy an old touring frame and build it up.

    You can bide your time but don't want to respect/mixed part? That doesn't make sense.

  • I already recommended pompino plus cross check fork. Its still cheap and a good match for your needs. I still enjoy mine. :)

    Second one is vague but term j think it's either sloped or sloping crown fork l.

    This thread has given two that you can buy new as complete framesets. The San Sebastian and the Kilo WT.

    There is also the TFG 2nd hand. As well as other options ranging from straight forward fork swaps to adding braze ons to any number of frames.

    Square = lugged = flat - don't worry about that stuff!
