Ha, no worries, I was pretty drunk and useless...
It's good to find someone who can help you get the hang of things in Day Z...
Right click on bandages to apply them.I'm in for Tues nerd out.

Looking forward to tuesday!
Hah, genius me, managed to fall down a deer stand and break a leg.
Lying around east of Kozlovka (048/107) now.
I'll need some branches, since I have no axe to chop some myself and can't move. Anyone around? -

Finally got a spawn going where my character is looking like a survivor :) hopefully this one doesn't get shot in the head

If you've not bled out yet I can log on and run down? It's about a 15 min run from me - maybe a little less. Send me a PM here and I'll get email notification and will get online. Or we can do on Tuesday if you're in no rush/still alive.

• #57
Just sorted Tues, I'm good to go too from around 7... Can't fully remember where I am, where should we all aim to meet?
-
• #58
That would be great, though Tuesday would be okay also. I'm not bleeding and have enough supplies, so I think I'll be fine. I just can't move.
Meet up maybe in a small village to the south, so we can make a coordinated move onto the airfield? Kabanino or Rogovo maybe?

@ the comment about getting a lock for the door
You don't think maybe giving your 'girlfriend' your attention might be more productive?

That was exciting....
I promised myself I wouldn't log in (just in case I died and lost all the gear I'd accumulated before Tuesday night - an AK101 with a full mag, several AKM mags and drums, an SKS with scope, ammo box etc) but I reneged on that promise and went to explore the NWAF.
I started off at the military base to the south of the strip, achingly aware that this was a busy server full of names like "........." and "ImGoingToKillYou". I searched through the buildings, the doors were all shut and rooms full of not very exciting loot. I moved on across the fields to the north, crouching as I ran zigzagging from cover to cover.
I got to the buildings in the woods at the southwest of NWAF and zombies came. Lots of zombies. Zombies are usually a good sign as it means no one has been near or at least no one has aggroed them recently. I didn't have time to change to a melee weapon so I took them all out with the AK101 leaving me with about 5 rounds in it. I ran outside into a bush and waited to see if there was any fallout. I couldn't hear anything. I couldn't see anything. I could see zombies on the runway and zombies in the hangers and by the fire station. I could also just see a few figures up by the army camp to the north but they weren't moving so it all seemed safe enough.
I belted across the runway and ran inside the ATC (air traffic control) building with gun drawn and took cover under the stairs, standing right next to it to get the glitched view of the doorway. (I'm not sorry). I waited. Nothing.
I moved upstairs slowly and picked up a few extra magazines then stood on the stairway into the glass control room, using 3rd person to scan around the airfield. Plenty of static and patrolling zombies - no people. I ran back down outside and to the left of the fire station and ran along the border of the woods with the fire station to my right. Turning my head right I could see someone running on top of the lower roof of the fire station who must have just spawned in. I didn't have anywhere to go so just kept running and prayed that he didn't see me. Somehow he kept facing the wrong way so I made it to the cover of the three little buildings to the east of the station without him seeing me. I could see he was still on top, scanning the area with his Mosin. I risked it.
"Hey Mosin guy, you friendly?"
He dropped to prone.
"Yes? No?"
Nothing.
I ventured out to the right of the building to show myself, did a little wave and moved back to cover just as his first shots at me hit the ground where my feet were moments before.
I ran round the left of the building and fired a burst of AK rounds at him. He dropped like a led balloon. Cue my heart beating furiously.I ran inside the fire station and slowly up the tower so I could get a look at him from above from inside the tower. I arrived on the top to find another guy with a Mosin crouched there aiming at where I was standing outside a second ago. Somehow he hadn't heard me run up. Rolling the dice I figured he was a buddy of the first guy since they had similar kit and there was no way the tower guy hadn't seen the guy on the roof. I pulled the trigger on the AK.
No ammo.
Tower sniper heard the clicks of my empty gun and spun round, firing his Mosin at me at point blank range. He missed. I ran around him as fast as I could trying to select a weapon, any weapon, I selected the fire axe, dropping my AK and beginning the achingly slow animation of getting the axe out of my bag - all the while motionless. He fired again. He missed again. I now had the axe but didn't fancy a third bullet coming my way. I ran down the stairs and headed across the warehouse room to the rear exit. I turned around and selected the SKS, getting it out just in time to see him come down the stairs chasing me, Mosin raised.
I didn't miss.
Equally I didn't hang around to see if they had any more friends. I ran to the woods and bolted south. I'm currently in a barn on the outskirts of Pogorevka (046 090) pinching myself.

what is (046 090), i mean its clearly lat and long but how do you know it
also awesome story, i never get that lucky, im on crap machine which lags so im normally dead before people enter my draw distance
-
• #64
I'm basing it on this map: http://dayzdb.com/map/chernarusplus
If you just hover the mouse around you should see the coordinates appear in the bottom center of the screen.
And yes, that was very much the exception to the rule in terms of luck. Normally I just get KOSd before I've even seen them. I've rage-deleted the game several times...
On the subject of lag, have you configured correctly? I had mine on quite high graphics settings before but tweaked it so it's a little less pretty but much much smoother. Makes a world of difference to PvP..

PS @Murphys_Law I'm very close to you now so just let me know when you're on and I'll come pass you a splint for your leg. I also have morphine I think which apparently heals broken legs but I've never tried it. Not entirely sure how painkillers can heal a break but ho-hum...
-
• #66
ooo I'm 046 048. Yeah I do have the settings quite high tbh
-
• #67
Then you're right by the airfield so be very careful - thar be bandits :)
-
• #68
Oh boy I can't wait. Can't remember where I am but will try get to you when I work it out. Need an ak101 mag!
-
• #69
I did a lap last time i was on, but found it by chance. Don't know my way around yet. I always go on a friendly loot server but it doesn't stop people killing me... I have no headset either

Great story btw cyoa.
I'm in the new city ATM.
Tomo is on. Everyone! -
• #71
I may be on briefly tonight but certainly on for tomorrow. I suggest we meet up around Pogorevka (045 089) after I've splinted Murphys_Law. That way we can either head to Balota military base in the south and on to Cherno or go north to the NWAF.
Balota/Cherno might be more fun though. Plenty of zombies and plenty of cover unlike NWAF which is basically a big empty field with trees around it for bandits to lurk in.
-
• #72
new city? wuh?
-
• #73
Yeahhh. North and middle I think. I was where we left off then ran a bit.
-
• #74
Holy shit, it's huge. It's north east corner. Basically north of NEAF.
http://dayz.gamepedia.com/Novodmitrovsk
It's even bigger than Cherno! -
• #75
Will explore that this week for sure, but seeing as most people are currently southwest maybe stick in that area for tomorrow's run? We can decide then. Gotta dash and do some work. Catch you all tomorrow.
Well I started my adventure.
Died about 4 times before I even found any loot, then was gathering stuff well, only to have a glitch prevent shotgun reload. Later got mauled by two Z and couldn't work out how to apply the bandage before i passed out and died, again.
Somehow still interested in playing more though, reckon the paranoid element is what makes it exciting.
@chrisbmx116 only saw your message after I fell asleep for a bit. sorry pal.
