  • Maybe he's just extra-excited at your post?

  • mmmm, microcosm's unimagined superpowers; excitement sensing programme?

  • That has freaked me out all day, but I've finally got to the bottom of it... he'd submitted the comment multiple times (possibly via mobile where the lag might defeat the anti-dupe code), and it resulted in 4 copies in the database at these times:

    '2014-08-18 06:01:23.477836'
    '2014-08-18 06:03:08.621653'
    '2014-08-18 06:03:26.217209'
    '2014-08-18 06:05:21.009638'

Each one was counted as a new update, and thus appeared in your Following screen multiple times.

I'm going to suppress that when it happens.

  • thanks!

shitty that it should take so much time, but I guess in perfecting microcosm it's the small things that take most of the work to solve

  • Pretty much.

Incredible to think what we've built in the last year, but also hard to see how much work needs doing when small edge cases appear like this.

  • On the old forum I used to be able to cross out text using text to be crossed out.

It was very helpful for when things had sold within classified listings.

Is there a way of doing this on microcosm?

  • Hmm, ok. It worked there but it is not working in my classifieds thread, so maybe this is a bug?

    See:
    https://www.lfgss.com/comments/11794356/

I tried to cross out the text about the wheels but I just got squiggles at the start and end.

  • I think that's due to the paragraph breaks.

~~I think that's due to the paragraph breaks.

I think that's due to the paragraph breaks.~~

  • -- Wrong symbol. --

  • OK, it's the spaces after and before the tilds, there should be none and you need to do paragraphs separately.

  • testing squiggles

    As you were.

  • @Velocio is it possible to have album pictures reinstated? Perhaps if only on a request basis for the time being?

For example, it'd be great to have this one back for the sake of posterity.

  • They are not lost, but we are still squashing bugs. And our immediate focus after that has to be fund-raising as we risk running out of runway. We will get back to the albums, but I always said this would be a couple of months after the change, not days or weeks.

  • Okie dokie. Thanks for the response.

  • I'm still getting updates on threads that I'm not following.
And I don't get why unread threads that I am following don't automatically migrate to the top of my page.

  • The following page is ordered by the last update, not the unread status. Although I think it'd be quite nice to have that as an option.

Could you give an example of something you aren't following but is appearing on that page? Perhaps you're following the parent microcosm?

  • Yeah, that last update thing, don't get it. There's nothing new there right?

Santander to Perpignan - Tour Daily NEW
The above is one example of a thread I'm not following - so if I'm following the general touring thread all this other stuff gets dumped in there as well?

  • If you follow a forum then all updated threads appear in following, got to parent forum of the thread and look at the right, is there a ''follow'' button or ''following'' written out?

  • If you follow a forum, can you unfollow one or more of its threads?

  • It wouldn't achieve anything if you're not also following the thread.

What do people think following a forum is going to do... if not tell you about updates to things in the forum?

  • Personally, I would like following a forum to mean that when a new thread is created in that forum I'm following it by default. Then I can unfollow the ones I don't care about. If it worked that way I don't think I'd ever need to look at today or converstations as I do now, I'd stay on following the whole time.

  • Precisely.

I'd like it to follow each thread in it individually and default to following all new threads. But I would like the ability to turn off the following for one or more threads within the forum.

I can easily imagine a forum of medium size with one or two threads in it that I hate, whilst the rest are of interest.
