What did you try and change it to? If it's a reserved name (e.g. used by someone else) it won't work.

I wanted my own name - the one I been using on here for a year or so...but no button pushing gives any response...should I pm the name to get the mod to change it (there was a bit on here about that)?

you've possibly swapped emails from your previous LFGSS account, if you pm velocio with old email/username and new email he can migrate your username to new email.

Links to conversations take you to the first unread comment if you are signed in (which may be partway through a conversation).

I have found that on threads with many pictures I seem to be taken to the first unread but then, as the images load, the page size changes leaving me further up-page that I should be. Chrome on Win 7.

Unfortunately not the case, despite being signed in. If I was just being taken to the first unread comment I wouldn't have raised it as an issue.

Why do people with big monitors think that they need all the stuff to be full width?
The advantage is in having two things open, side by side.
A hundred words per line is no fun.
Also, rotate the damn things. Portrait mode is ace on large screens.

Are they threads you have been into since the move to microcosm? Not sure the info on where you'd read up to was carried over. I found that happening a lot initially, but after hitting "mark everything read" it's behaved it'self (other than the picture thing).

I'm 90% sure I've been into these threads.

@Velocio
David,
I find it hard to get used to the new search tool. Are things likely to get better soon?
All my closed threads have been re-opened, is there a way to close them again or even erase them completely?
Have you notice an massive drop in traffic with the switch? The classified / darknet seem to be super quiet.
Is there a way to delete my profile completely along with all my posts and all my threads?Sorry if you have answered all these questions somewhere else but I don't seem to be able to use the search tool to find the answers - I'm either retarded or it is utter shit.

Yes, I've built in the new features it needs, and will look at changing the defaults later today or tomorrow.

These will be re-closed in the next day or two, I need to look at how to do this but we do support the concept of closing/locking a conversation.

Actually no, the opposite.
vBulletin used to show on the front page 1,000~ people online or thereabouts during much of the day. But that was usually 350~ members, 400-500 guests and the rest were bots. vBulletin used a few hours for the window to calculate that.
Microcosm shows 450-500 people online during much of the day, using a 90 minute window. It does not include guests or bots. As a rule there are 1.5~ guests to every 1 member, and Google Analytics confirms this split.
There are actually already more people using the forum, for more of the day, for longer durations of time.
But Microcosm was designed to not feel like a behemoth. I wanted it to feel smaller, more like the old days, whilst being huge.
And classifieds are a section of the site that is quieter, in part due to the search not yet being nailed, but other parts are busier.
Is there a way to delete my profile completely along with all my posts and all my threads?
I can delete your profile, but the content would stay in a detached state and be associated to the @deleted user.
This is pretty much because whilst your profile is part of identity data and EU law allows you to have that removed, the content is part of a collaborative work in a similar way to Open Street Map, Wikipedia, etc... it's one contribution to a whole, and the whole may not make any sense without the earlier contributions. i.e. quotes out of context, if you delete a conversation what happens to comments by others, etc.

All of the closed items are closed again.

I kept the data in the form of the database, but we haven't yet exported them.
The plan is to do so at some point in the future when we have a "Galleries" feature and then to import albums into galleries.
If people don't want to wait whatever that indeterminate amount of time is, then I can export and just distribute the files in .zip files to the authors.

(Has this been answered?)
How do I copy this list http://www.lfgss.com/comments/10107771/ with the hyperlinks?
Hi, why can't I edit my profile - just a number now & nothing I do works... :(
