Anyone looking for a bling set of clamp-on brakes for there njs steed?
-
• #2063
So ugly.. head over to velodrome shop and the clamp on dia compe.
Much better looking.
Most fixed gears riders in Japan have 2 brakes. I think the authority take it quite serious. -

Retail was about 600usd!
If they use brakes so often, why don't they just drill the frames and forks? Against regulations?
-
• #2065
Clamp on system keeps the originality. Once you've drilled you've basically devalued your bike by 50% if you can sell it in the first place.
I would just buy a single speed plenty of nice ones about. -

I'm not talking about why fixie skidders won't drill these frames. Surely the athletes that race them and train on them with brakes don't care about the resell value of undrilled NJS frames to Westerns?

These rider usually build a street racer single speed with the same geometry. If that's what they want.
There was a lovely nagasawa build on here recently. Brakes didn't take anything away from it. -

i know its sworn against, but has anyone drilled their njs fork? Not a fan of dia compe clamp on thingys . I know brake drop might be a problem but i've got a short drop brake that might be appropriate.
-
• #2073
If you want you can, but not those fork buy cheap one
-
• #2074
yeah was thinking of getting some off eBay for cheap, not many drilled ones around

I've drilled a semi tight track fork, no problem. Just make sure you drill straight.
Oof, that's fit. Samsons are so nice. Love the paint.
