Hi, some friends and I are keen to invite ourselves along for this. It would be great to have a new dipping spot!

Sure - as long as you're all fine with an 80 mile ride first. We have to go at a fairly steady pace, so while it isn't hilly, you'd need to be comfortable over that distance.

Hurrah. I have been swimming in Hampstead ponds 3 times this year - that practically constitutes training, though am still being beaten by baby coots.

due to be at Wilderness (for lake swimming!), otherwise was about to diarise (!),actually, got weekends mixed up somehow... its the Hackney Wicked festival on the weekend of 2/3rd August.. but that happens on both days of the weekend, so could attend on Saturday, then ride over to the River Stour on the Sunday.. :-)
diarised 8am on Sunday 3rd Aug. at London Fields' Pub on the Park, for a Dunwich Dynamo style departure.. will aim for an early night Saturday (which - being without many or any warehouse-all-night-raver friends - is likely!)

^ Hurrah
Weather forecast is picking up for the weekend. I'm going to be slighty broken after a day of racing, so it will be steady rather than fast.
Getting excited ...

I'll take steady...
Missus and I might join you.
8am is fucking early though...
-

It's about 80 miles - you need to make it an early start to get some swimming in at the other end. It's worth it, I promise.

pack Friday-night, then set the alarm set (for the usual) 7am C-B, but unlike my usual week-day approach, actually get up when the alarm goes... and go!!

Short of a miracle occuring and little helper elves writing my thesis for me by Saturday I'm out :-( Which is tragic as this ride is great and ends up just down the road from my mum's.

Oh shame.
(And in response to Howrad - there will be no skinny dipping. None.)

I'd persuaded my +1 to come along, but now +1 seems to have made other plans for sunday lunch... so I have a maybe but probably not +1...
