  • No chance! I've got a Brixton Cycles sticker on one so I can easily identify which has my clothes in it and which has Rosie's. Forgot to grab a second one when I was in the shop on Tuesday for the rear panniers so will get one when I'm grabbing cables/chains/etc tomorrow.
There's at least one other Super Galaxy tandem out there that isn't blue, but it's the only one from the right era I could find on google. Hopefully mine will look a little lighter and a little sparklier than this, but who knows.

  • Anyone near SE6 have a headset press (DIY or otherwise) I can borrow over the weekend?

  • OK. Custom made panniers in black & white camouflage, you two in matching authoritarian/para-military overalls for some battleship-chic?

That does look good but I'm not keen on, at least the font, of the vertical decals and there are too many; the tape is... not to my liking; and don't get me started on the tyres!

    tandem porn thread >>>>>>>>>>>>

I think Matt made one? Otherwise, softwood + hammer.

  • Does strike me as the kind of thing Matt would have lying around in his ManShed. Will pester him tomorrow.

^^I think you overestimate how much money I have left to throw at this project. Funds have to last me the holiday too :/ The font on that is the right one, so if you're not keen on it you'll be disappointed tomorrow morning. Assuming Vaz used the files I provided, that is. Still a little bit of a mystery exactly what I'll be picking up.

  • I've got one neighbour

  • walking distance wins! will drop you a pm :)

  • Nothing that big, I'm afraid.

  • Subbed!

  • I love the accidental perspective alignment in this photo that suggests you're restoring a tandem build for 20 inch wheels.

I would say 'subscribed' but that's total bollocks! What the fuck does it even mean? I am stalking your 'project'? bleaurgh.

Lovely freshened tandem for da mandem. And galdem.

    Go you two.

  • Oh, you shoulda got a dynamo for it mind.

  • Oh, you shoulda got a dynamo for it mind.

We can't afford it! Maybe for next time.

6pt is still asleep and I don't want to spoil the surprise, so you'll have to wait. Though I could go wake him up by enthusiastically telling him about some lightweight camping gear nonsense (again). My latest wish list item: a 70g chopping board.

  • this thread is nice

  • Sub'd

  • Ah yes it does get expensive, esp the lights themselves. Also tend to be 36h not 40+.

    Lightweight chopping board: the ground.

  • I like the colour, but I would.

  • New (26.0) stem is in the post so until then leaving the old one on. New headset is lower stack so need to cut the steerer down a bit, will properly fit mudguard (and front rack) once that's done. No front cranks on yet due to a bottom bracket deal with Hovis - I ordered a 115 (correct length) and a 122 (too long) as he had previously ordered a 115 and found it wouldn't clear the chainstays at the back of his tandem. He's got to come over and swap them, which will be happening this afternoon. Will cut down my seatpost a bit as it's epic, and also shorten the shim so it sits flush with the stem and no further. Also need to reattach the head tube badge :) After that, it's just chains and cables which are all sitting in a pile downstairs waiting.

Minor gripe that spoils the perfection of everything but isn't too important as it'll be covered by a pannier 90% of the time –Mario put the non-driveside fork decal on upside down. Argh!
Also, the silver of the tubus racks doesn't sit very happily against the silvers and greys of everything else. Should have got those painted up with the frame, but that's probably going a bit too far really.

  • (wrong mudguard supports, I know. Need to put those ones on the front)

  • (click for bigger)

  • Racks look fine. Good, in fact. Paint finish is nice looking. Bitch about the decal. Mario's famous for this sort of thing.

Wouldn't you be better off using spacers on the headset? Once you cut, you'll forever need low stack...

  • I have no idea how these old headsets work. Threadless/ahead all day long. easy to find some nice silver-finish spacers?

  • ummmm ... ask Jim?

  • Actually that's a fucking large gap! You sure you've got all the headset parts in there?!
