You can use bar end shifter on downtube, some people preferred it even.
-
• #328
^ if thats for me, cheers. Already returned em, ordered some downtube shifters, and saved meself £20.
Ed, you any ideas what front rack I can run on a cross check fork mounts that'll take a bigtop bag same as apollos? -
• #329
Didn't get round to switching the rack over and taking a photo (partly because I realised I'd bolted the mudguards to it and it's a pain to remove now)
Thankfully J.Dennis was selling a Disc Trucker/Soma front end and posted a photo of it bolted on...
Should bolt on just fine!
i'll have a go and report back

We've made it ! On the train back to Edinburgh to treat ourselves to dinner, then back to London overnight.

Looking forward to seeing the pics.
Got mine built up, joy of joys, my good lady says she likes it very much, and says she wouldn't mind too much if my next build was for her. So, anybody got a 49cm cross check or similar for sale? -
• #336
Of course I meant a 50cm, as surly don't do a 49. My bad.
-
• #337
Could somebody tell me what size the dropout adjuster bolts are? There's none in my frame. Cheers.
-
• #338
M3 (3mm thread diameter, 0.5mm pitch)
I can check the length later or you can figure it out yourself by measuring the length of the dropout...
-
• #339
Cheers Andy. Will have a measure and get some ordered.

Looks great rich!
Is that an alp kit dry bag? if so which straps are you using?
-
• #342
They come with the dry bag spotter
-
• #343
Then again that depends in whether pure asking about the black or orange bag :-)
-
• #344
Both the black and orange are 13 litre alpkits which comebwith their own straps. It's the double ended version. The black one is just rolled down more.
-
• #345
I also used a random old strap from a knackered rucksack to make it doubly secure on the rack. Then I added an old toestrap to hold the map in its protective freezer bag.
-
• #346
Haha is that a bottle of meths mounted underneath the downtube?! How did you attach it?
-
• #347
It is!
I attached it using a bottle cage, which is held on by DMR hinged clamps. These clamps cost a couple of quid and seem to work well - I don't get why people use jubilee clamps/ hose clamps instead.

Looks fantastic, chapeau. More route info/pics very welcome!

I'm not the best at taking photos but I do have a few more, and the beginnings of a ride report in my mind.
-
• #350
Think I'm done with mine for now. I just need some time to actually ride it now...
Got a cheap cx50 crankset off ebay so now running 46/34 up front, 10 speed indexed bar ends.
Not sure on the cambium, but it was an impulse buy. I could do with a 90 mm stem. It's all still feeling a bit stretched out.
Yep its 155.. will let you know..
