give it a good ten minutes?

I don't understand how this ever got as far as needed a retraction.
What the hell were BikeBiz thinking in publishing the offending paragraph in the first place?
I'm tweeting the journo to see if he did it on purpose.

Id love to be a fly on the wall at FOFFA HQ.Dani Foffa's probably head to toe in gaffer tape,
to stop him being naughty. -

This is dangerously close to something I have read before a few times.

Who should you allow to advertise in your cycling magazine from the Sheldon Brown archives: http://www.sheldonbrown.com/evilbike.html

Haven't checked if Foffa are on Sheldon's naughty list.

Wiggle are actually selling Foffa bikes!?
Yes, they have been for some time now. Only in Red, Black and Grey at the moment.
-
• #84
In fact, the awesome page rank power of Wiggle is in danger of knocking LFGSS off the first page when you search for Foffa

They aren't. I guess Sheldon isn't doing many updates to his comic posts these days. Why would you feel that Foffa deserves a place? Glorification of confectionery masturbation?

I imagine Wiggle and BikeBiz might be better able than I to answer why Foffa should go on the naughty list.

Sorry. No need to get all shitty though.

Some people have a really crappy attitude.

Isn't it time for a picture of a kitten?
I'll let you decide which one is Foffa and which his PR

Time to abandon the thread.
Oh well.

Velocio, weve had Foffa's response pathetic & pointless as it was.I dont think were going to hear from Wiggle or Bike Biz.Wiggle would just deny it and as for Bike Biz,we already knew where they stand when they deleted the paragraph and decided to fuck the consumer.
-
• #92
Sorry Velocio. The most apt response to all this doublespeak from Danni Foffa seems to lie in the absurd or grotesque.
I don't have much to contribute about the finer points of EU law and its application, and to me this is merely a continuation of an overarching attitude of 'do/say one thing, and if get called out on it, just say the opposite or deny all knowledge'.
It's infuriating and the hallmark of a grade A cnut, and I could have forgiven the thousand incarnations of bogging baby blue fixehs at eye watering prices if he didn't come on here to try and argue or justify them and treat everyone like mugs in the process.
Peoples, spend your pennies elsewhere.

If resale price maintenance is rampant in the industry, Foffa's comments wouldn't have raised a red flag for an industry hack?
-
• #94
Mr Tester price fixing may be rampant but they dont want moron's like FOFFA shouting about it and foffa pays bike biz for advertising space. If SUTTON the journalist done this intentionally, surely he hung FOFFA out to dry.

Time to abandon the thread..
Or merge back into the main thread. I can see that you have a bee in your bonnet about this one thing but
it's not the worst thing Foffa has ever done to cycling.
and even if (a very big if) a consumer has been disadvantaged (how?), having a minnow like Foffa playing the same game as some of the biggest names in the industry certainly isn't the worst thing that has ever happened as a result of bicycle price fixing.

+1 for the 'cool' stickers. Great idea hippy. Reminds me of some wag printing 'lies' in white on blue stickers to put over the end of Barclays bikes logos ...

Barclay's B'lies'? Makes no sense Skully. It makes no sense!

Pretty well. There are plenty of alternatives to Apple if you don't like their prices. There is no compelling public interest which would make government interference with Apple's contracts desirable.
Apple are free to charge whatever they want in the apple store, on apple.com, or wherever else. When they (effectively) mandate pricing across the board, that interferes with the chance for others to have - lower overheads - better efficiency - whatever business reason to be able to charge less and pass on the same good product at a better price to the consumer.
Anyway, I don't like apple or their prices so wouldn't buy even if there were cheaper retail outlets available.
- Also, let's ignore whether or not freedom of contract should trump anti pricefixing legislation, note I originally had an issue with the situation where big boys (Apple) get away with more than small fry (Foffa) could do. That's explicitly an un-free market. Either they should both be allowed to price fix, or neither.

- It's a stupid law.
Don't agree (obviously), but...
- Therefore, it's not the worst thing Foffa has ever done to cycling.
...agree.
This kind of behaviour is not uncommon and not even that deleterious to the end user. If anything higher prices will prevent people buying and they'll dodge a bullet. But there's plenty of shenanigans in the cycling world (and much much worse in business generally), this pales in comparison, and having its own special thread makes it look somewhat witch-hunty.
Foffa shouldn't be getting any special treatment, positive or negative
- It's a stupid law.

Actually, I want "cool" stickers made to cover the "back" on "Cyclists stay back" plates.
This should work if your print media is the same width as the sticker on the vehicle. The Official FORS stickers are A4 or A3, not sure about the TfL ones. I've gone with "Stay cool" to overlay "Stay back" to make it less obvious (misaligned text) that the sign has been hacked.

well this Foffa business is all causing a big stink, isn't it?
