  • Thought this needed to be adressed:

Was going to put this in Bad traders but thought it wouldn't get the attention it deserves or is needed to alert people not to deal with people like chickenleaverpuller.

    So the story goes:

Recently I have had a Corima Disc wheel on sale:

A very rare and stunning wheel that I thought deserved to be used better than i was currently using (on the roads of London). I bought it mainly just becuse i had the cash, love the sound of a disc and the look of it.

Enjoyed it for a couple of months and thought i'd pass it on for the same money i bought it.

Unlucky for me i sold it to chickenleaverpuller just over a week ago.

I meet with him in person. As he had no idea of how to install the wheel to his bike i offered my services. Tightened up the wheel told him to try it out and then took a photo of his bike, told him if he needs any assistance on the wheel to let me know, and that was that. A happy chap he seemed even though i have heard that he is not one of the favored characters on this forum.

After a couple of days he texted me if the Cog is glued on? as he is struggling to get it off!
I told him that i use Phil wood waterproof grease and that i have never heard of a Cog being glued. To which i get a reply "why would you put a 20t Cog on anyway!"" lools" Nothing much to say to that.
He told me that he tried taking it off and broke his chain whip while attempting to remove the Cog. After that just " Ahh i'll get it sorted!!".

Now it's been a week and i receive a text and Watsup that "you sold me a faulty disc i want my money back".
Many more messages followed, So i replied that the disc has been serving people for the past 20 odd years and you have managed to destroy it in a week.
To what i get a reply "actually i didn't break it my mate did and he wants his money back and he is a serious guy :/"

So there is nothing much i could say to that, but while shocked at his threat and pretty much upset that they managed to destoy the wheel.

What do you say to something like that? A perfectly functional wheel that has been running for year and still had many more years left in her, destroyed in a week by someone that has no idea that these thing's are not just for posing and abusing. Guess it's kind of my fault as well as i had a feeling it wasn't a good idea to sell the wheel to him, but what's done is done.

  • he is clearly a moron. would ignore all future texts from him

  • What is actually broken on the wheel?

    At a guess stripped thread?

  • No hub body has broken out of the wheel. If that makes any sense? Hub is now sticking out on the freewheel side.

  • At a guess the hub got broken out of the wheel when the cog was removed?

  • I have no idea? a real shame! Guess you have to ask the culprit

  • Ha, ha, ha!

Cockpuller is making so many friends on the forum then!

  • He sold the wheel to a mutual friend of ours, (cos it's a tub) our mate had it a few days and yes, the hub body has split from the carbon. Apparently the wheel was being ridden under normal circumstances in elephant and castle. Everything aside, it's a tragic shame. Was a beautiful wheel :(

  • Nothing to do with wrecking a chain whip while taking it off then?

  • And what was the mark-up he made for the sale to 'mutual' friend?

  • Ah that disc was rowdy esp with that agip decal, such a shame.. Would have looked nice in the collection

  • Traded for a specialized trispoke and a bit of dosh. You probably might have seen the guy I'm talking about, he has a distinctive San Marco lo pro. What are some of the reasons the hub could have broken out though?

  • Breaking a chain whip?

    Dur....

  • The whole issue with a chainwhip was a week and a bit before today when the disc got fucked. And no he was just struggling to get the cog off. It broke whilst riding

    Dur.

  • sounds like a right belm

  • So he broke a chain whip trying to get it off. Then sold it to someone else who fucked the hub 'while riding'. A 20T hub mind you.

Can. You. See. Why. I'm. Sceptical?

  • CLP broke a chain puller getting it off, but I think it was a cheap tool or something.

When it was riding it had a much smaller cog on it, I don't really know anyone who rides with a rear 20 tooth. Waaaaaaaay too spinny

  • Haven't seen the guy no. I don't spot many people, don't work/do uni at normal hours.

Could have been trying to turn the cog wrong way round?
Too much pressure from side on as he was trying to remove it?
If your putting enough force on a disc wheel you break a whip tool thing then something wasn't going right.

  • I was ridding a 54x20 not spinny at all and most of the boys in Tokyo fixed/kinoko use the same. So don't know what you going on about? All about the biggest chainring!

  • Oh wow those guys at kinoko/Tokyo fixed are soooo cool

  • Yes.

    Yes they are.

  • Nearly as cool as the guys at BLB ;)

  • RIP Agip wheel. Twas nice.

  • On his Facebook he claims "Weale's Wheels: A online virtual bike shop run by an ex-bike mechanic who has an extraordinary interest in bikes! Bikes for sale will be uploaded in photos."

  • CLP obviously broke the wheel, sold/swaped it and is now looking for a hand out! There's no ifs or buts!

Sound like the right story to me, he probably felt something moved when he removed the cog so decided to get rid of it. When you use too much force, you often end up learning the hard way.
