I don't no you to be likely to die from riding this route.

Pete, I just rode the ridgeway with a couple of buddies at a 'touring'pace with some camping thrown in... We took four days to go from Bristol to bishops Stortford. Something like that would be excellent training....the hills are proper buggers! Apparently, someone rode the ridgeway double in 13 hours the other week! If I just drop in there that 40 miles a day was plenty for me, you'll know what I mean!
Come on, forum bikepacking trip! -
• #389
I woke up (ish) this morning feeling like I'd ridden the whole thing. Too much cycling and climbing this weekend I think

I must be the only person on here to not own any bikepacking gear :-)

I was sent some in my 'Joining Pack', received after I first registered my membership of the forum.

Impressive - I'll never beat 13hrs. Did 14hrs 49mins and was planning an attempt at 13hrs 30mins until I got sick.

Good job!

Rode the Ridgeway East to West yesterday. 7 hours one-way with a few stops for water, and I couldn't have turned around and done the same again. That double record is quick!

7hrs is quick esp that way round when the hills come at the end.

So.
If I were actually going to do this. Like actually going to do it. Would Winchester - Eastbourne, camping half way then swimming at the end be a good shout?
CX bike or full susser?
I'm thinking of late August / Early September.
I'll listen to your advice if you'll let me borrow your mountain bike for an attempt!
