so, I've updated the route in the first post to the new, direct route out of London. It actually looks like quite a good route, a lot of b roads, some of which I know to be very nice.
Hopefully the weather will be a little better than today, I'd like to suggest a pub stop near Cambridge, so if anyone knows anywhere good then please do say.
If you have a garmin please download the tcx file and upload it onto your machine in case mine breaks down.
Thanks all, should be great fun!

I'm riding down to London from Cambridge on this very day for my TdF volunteer training at the Olympic park.
Will DAS if I see you all on the road.

Whats the latest on this? Is this still a go?
-

Yep, Shoreditch High Street Station @ 8 AM. Fred's got my number if any issues. How long do you reckon it takes to get to Shoreditch Highstreet? A3 ->A10?
-

Yes, this is very much still on, meet at 8am at shoreditch high st station.
Weather looks like it'll be fantastic http://www.bbc.co.uk/weather/2643743 so it should be a very nice ride and I'm taking suggestions for pub stops just outside of Cambridge for lunch
My number's zero 782 one 240 nine 44 if you need to get hold of me if you're running late or anything

Hi , if you are @ Shoreditch @ 8 then what time do you think you will hit Walthamstow?
If it's near 9 then I d be happy to invite you to hook up with Lea Valley CC to ride up the Epping Rd to High Beach and then onto to Moreton?
-
• #36
Hi Peter,
I assume it would be near 9, but I think we're going to just head straight out down the Epping New Rd and leave the fun until north of Epping (see route in 1st post). Thanks for the offer and do say hi if you pass us

Ahhhh ninjas!
I never saw how fast you was planning to pace this, btw :) -

Out. Too early for me to get into town.

Ok, we shall look out for you. Still having trouble comprehending that the Tour is going through Moreton!
BTW , the White Hart in Moreton would be an excellent place to watch it on the day.... -

May or may not make it, promised a mate to escort him to Brighton but he's currently AWOL. So who knows, I'll either be there for 8 or not at all.

Doing this with fussballclub the 'right way round' tomorrow. I'll probably give you a roadie nod unless I recognise anyone, in which case I'll wave.

Looks like Team Sky have been doing reccies for stages 1 & 2 over the last 2 days. With any luck, you'll see them doing stage 3 today. Looks like a lovely day for it.
-
• #43
How will we know it's them; given the amount of Sky kit we see out on a sunday morning.
-
• #44
Unfortunately they said they weren't going to be reccying stage 3 - It's pretty damn flat so I guess there's nothing for them to prepare. Maybe so other teams will do it though?
There's always a chance of seeing Cavendish or Dowsett around that area though.
How did the ride(s) go?

Sorry, I forgot to say I couldn't make it. Hope you had an awesome ride!

we did, just myself and Yukirin joined by my gf later in the ride, then after dropping off Yukirin at Cambridge we did a few more miles.

Woohoo! My first 100 of the year done! Thanks for an awesome ride out!
Trains were messing me about so ended up clocking more miles around London before I got home. Safe to say I'm pretty destroyed, but being well looked after by the other half :)
Thanks again, Freddie! Was great to meet the two of you. -

Well done chaps. I didn't manage to wake up in time. Hoped I would catch you on Epping New Road, but no avail - got punished by ICC instead.
Probably gonna go do this the 'right' way round tomorrow, if anyone's interested? Get a train to Cambridge about 7.30am
