I'm trying to purchase a beaten 'dale mtb off its owner. If I succeed I'm in!

is this suitable for road bike with wide tyres? as suggested
-
• #29
It should be fine, the majority of people last time were on road or fixed bikes with wide tyres or cross bikes. A cross bike is the perfect bike for it imo.
Gutted I can't make it this year, last year was probably the best forum ride I've done.

I've done this on an effete plastic road bike with 23 tyres at 100psi. I was with my 9 year old son who also had 23 tyres - albeit at a lower pressure. It's fine, but maybe save your deep section carbon rims for another day...

We will be using steel frames. After the ride to Cookham I'm sure they'll be just fine with the 28c Marathons
Can't wait!

This was awesome last year.
I walked a bit of the South Downs on Sunday and am minded to include it at the end of the ride (cutting out Shoreham).
Pros- Avoid Shoreham
- Beautiful views (see above)
- Nicer run into Brighton
Cons - Multiple steep hills at the end of a long day (I will be walking up some of them) (see above 2)
Thoughts?
- Avoid Shoreham

Ain't riding back either :)
I can ride as much as the distance from the local train station all the way home, which is 2 mins :D -
• #46
Btw, we might meet you guys on the Thames Path in front of Ham House as I live in Twickenham.
We'll define this when closer to the date. -

Will book an advanced ticket via southern for £5 then ride the last bit home from croydon/clapham junction/somewhere.

edit - will make it collected from brighton so if I wake up late and miss you or whatever someone can take the ticket instead

good idea...for £5 (£8 in my case) ones are valid on specific trains (times) or are valid through the day?
Mmm it says: "Valid only on your selected service"
£24 is the day one.
So any idea what time we're supposed to arrive? -

re trains, to collect from station you need the card you paid with or a very sympathetic ticket office person.
Cheap pre-paid are typically one service only. The groupsave has changed from 50% for 4 or 33% off for 3; to 33% off for 3-9 people.
I just bought an mtb thingy. Tempting ...
