Allocation of EHBPC Spots

what happens if a couple of the top teams from the champs don't want to go to the euros? will their spots be passed down the list of the champs contenders?
this seems fairest to me, but if we get down to joint 5th and 6th places, who decides who goes?

My Proposal (revised):

4 spots given to UKC

• Remaining spots given to second qualifier.
  
• After UKC, qualified teams must confirm their spot within 3 weeks (with the 'at least 2/3' rule).
  
• Unclaimed spots will be given to the second qualifier.
  
  

Benefits of Proposal:
-Means that teams can confirm and organise themselves prior to confirmation from the EHBPC organisers
-Ensures competitive representation from the UK with the top 4 teams.

Main reasons for this are because it will be best for spots to be definitively won by a team. In this scenario it would be easily done by deferring to the second qualifier.

Of course it would be relatively easy to hold a playoff game at the UKC for 5/6th place.
However, while this wouldn't be a massive deal, it is definitely an additional complication which may prove entirely unnecessary (given that the top 4 are all likely to confirm).

I am open to this if enough people prefer it.

My reason for making it an open vote was to try and ensure that people only voted if they had an expressed interest in qualifying and attending the EHBPC.

If for example 4th place can't go after all and the spot is passed down to the next team from the UKC, then how do we decide this since the next place down is joint 5th from the double elim?

This. Otherwise you'd get people voting who had no genuine intension of going. IMO

so you have to come in the top 4 at the Champs, or play in the 2nd qualifier.

^^ Good points Neil, I am developing points outlining confirmation of spots which will be presented in my proposal first thing tomorrow.

^ The difference with a fixed number of spots proposal is that teams do not have to wait for confirmation from Italy to make confirmations themselves. Italy might not quite be on the ball, but that doesn't mean we can't be.
Also I basically just think that we should send the top 4 from the UKC. That wouldn't happen in a 50:50 proposal if we were given less than 7 spots.

I hope you are right and selecting 4 slots for the uk champs works fine... If you come fourth would you book your tickets before Italy announces slots?
