Saddle bag is a 'Lomo'... I'd wanted to get a Vavert Advancer front rack for it but never got one sorted... Anyone got one spare?

Ah sorry.. Eurostar to Paris then cycle Orleans-Tours along the Loire to Poitiers and finishing near Limoges at the in-laws place - nothing too taxing!
-
• #155
Er, yeah almost exactly! We might get a train towards Orleans a few stops as cycling out of central Paris is shiiiiit... (in my experience) - Got some loose Airbnb accommodation booked in the cities along the route buts it's all fairly loose so we'll see how we go!

Damn, nice! Enjoy the trip.

Nicest way out of Paris for Orleans would be SW out via the Vallée de Chevreuse
IMO. It's an easy route out of Paris and you're relatively clear of the sprawl pretty quickly. The Vallée area itself is hilly if that's an issue. -

Ah great! Thank you!! I'll run it by the group! Last time I'd tried we got caught up in crap road with cycle lanes on pavements, then abuse from motorists, then dual carriageway and underpasses, through bleak industrial bits... Then across a field into a forest during a heavy thunder storm... It wasn't ideal!
Cheers! -

Cheers dude! how do? you still got that Gazelle cyclocross?

So France trip was awesome but the weather was all over the place! Got caught in a heavy rain/thunder storm out of hard du nord which meant the anodising on the brake track I’d been agonising over for months in the rim choice department was gone within a few miles... ah well...

Loire river route was good, nice and warm and no cars so we could chill and shoot the breeze...

Next couple of days we’re roasting and I found it hard... I seem to just shut down when I get hot... 34degrees with no shade for tens of kilometre at a time... a quick sprinkler shower was welcomed!

Last leg into Doumailhac was fun, it was cooler and light rain made the climbs less of a chore... nice chateaux at Mont Brun a few km away from home...

If I were to do it again, which I will be next year, I want to upgrade from the bagman to a proper rack, ideally up front so I can stuff all the charging kit in the bag and wrap the wiring up the rack support rather than fork blade... I’ve been looking at chrome touring/Audax forks on eBay with all the mounts and might try them or have seen a pair of wound up with canti studs that might work... I found charging on the go really useful - think this wheelset might stay on this bike with some proper guards fitted for winter riding...

Not ridden much since I’ve been back but got out for a ride yesterday from Hastings back to Tunbridge Wells... things got a bit muddy on the Cuckoo Trail... thinking about building an old mtb with slick tyres for next time!!

Looking proper sharp! I went touring on Veloflex clinchers last year in Scotland & didn't have a single puncture - you might be able to get away with it :)
Edit: whoops, seems I'm proper behind on this thread.
Ha cheers! Yup... Only complete bike, I've got a neo retro Gazelle build with silver rival on the slow burn and am looking for a beater mountain bike for the lolz... PDW would fit but as the bike may need to be hung on trains/dismantled I opted for the clip-ons for this ride... And yeah the pictures are just off my iPhone, I'm no photographer!
