Tektro CR 720 are OK in my experience. Set-up wise at least, but make sure you get them with replaceable pads, not the single-block jobs as the pad setup is not as smooth

@fizzy.bleach thankyou. Going to go for the tester approved option of cheap brakes with great pads.
Cr720 with swisstop, shimano or koolstop. -

i endorse this! whatever the red/black pads are are good

And a suitable holder if you want koolstop, they're my favourite. Not in stock on wiggle though. -

Yes but no because IMO you want just the pads, not the hardware.

@snottyotter @fizzy.bleach
Great thanks, much appreciated -

I’ve got an as-new set of silver CR720’s with Kool Stop Salmon pads up for grabs if you need.

Ooh, Price? Interested after sacredheart

Is the hardware bad? I ordered a set of their Campagnolo holders to replace the difficult friction-fit ones in 2012 Athena.
-

it's not awful, but when you get the pads with built-in holding hardware (i.e. not the replaceable holders + pads) you have to set the pads up afresh each time, and it's a bit fiddly

DM me, also @sacredhart if interested.

Thanks I messaged you

What is the best single speed specific tester approved. 3/32 chain? Just go with a brand name 8/9 speed one?
-
• #1094
That one gets answered every 6 weeks in here I think.
-
• #1095
So this week what is the answer?
-
• #1097
I think it was a preference for a wippermann UTFS but the KMC SFP option is also approved.
-
• #1098
Thanks 👍🏼
-
• #1099
UTFS looks like good value

I've bought Tektro RX6 in the past and they are better than expected, no complaints from the 2 friends of which I've fitted them for.
I went with the 300 in the end as 55 want available in the size I needed.
Thanks for the advice all.
