  • Went to Smokey Kudu by Queens road station yesterday for a few afternoon drinks. Had a smoked amaretto sour, a cape old fashioned (rye, mezcal, PX, smoke and oak) and a Forest Queen (gin, chartreuse and violet).

  • I think my mate's Old Fashioned for a nightcap was what put me in the hurt locker today. :S

  • Christmas is knocking down the door, and it's time to bust out the Warninks Advocaat for a snowball or 3.

    What else can I do with the yellow elixir?

  • Fancied a white Russian, but have fewer ingredients than required.
    Improvised with Woodford double oaked, kahlua and vanilla oat milk.

    Incredibly sweet. Might try it with regular oat next time.

    Tried some weird stuff (we were out so restaurants and bar 'special' offerings) but kept going back to classics (old fashioneds, margaritas, and espresso martinis).

  • I think the grrl's favourite was a lime/basil/tequila thing in temper and mine was her yellow sour called altopista or something from Disrepute.

  • Antiplano - El Gobernador pisco, macchu pisco, yellow chartreuse, kaffir lime leaf, mango, egg white, orange blossom

  • I've been drinking a lot of hanky pankys lately

  • I am going to make a lapsang souchong infused simple syrup, reckon it will make an interesting Old Fashioned addition.
    Perhaps with bourbon, for a sweet and smoky drink.

  • 45ml gin + 45ml sweet vermouth + 2 dashes of fernet branca

  • It's my day off so I'm having an absinthe martini in the garden

    70ml gin
    15ml white Vermouth
    5ml absinthe

    Shake over ice, garnish with a star anise

    Approaching that time of year again. Rum soaked raisins, proper whipped cream crumbled amaretti. Eat with a spoon, rinse and repeat.

  • We were on the Snowballs last Christmas. So good!

  • Love them, 50/50 Advocaat to Lemonade, squeeze of lime, plus wedges to serve.

  • Dark rum, Cointreau, Monster Ultra (aka: what I had in the kitchen when I ran out of beer)
