  • Used to cycle up on my Ron Cooper

Repped for classic look. Excellent shoes

  • 9min in the cycle crossing by elephant and castle... that was done away with.

  • Refreshing to see cyclists in normal clothes and no helmets.

This is true - cycle specific clothing is great on longer, colder rides but it's good to see a time before everyone went all promuter.

  • Those eveready lights were absolute rubbish. Thank god for LEDs

  • Shoes were Sidi I seem to remember

  • ffs.. It's like watching Life on Mars.. 1984..
I seem to remember that almost everyone cycled to school..
Swains Lane was were we got food and smoked B&H behind the bike sheds
    during lunch break..

brilliant top, brilliant bike, awful hat

  • I loved that hat

  • I loved that hat

    Me too!

  • love the section where hes speaking to camera, in the middle of the road,
then just looks back, starts riding and filtering past queues, cool as fuck, 30 years ago

  • 30 years ago, Jesus.

  • And I'm still riding a Ron Cooper

  • 30 years ago, Jesus.

And I'm still riding a Ron Cooper

and I bet you still look as slinky as in that Italo photo :)
    FITNESS!

  • You could rock that look now Maximus and easily get away with it.

  • I wish!

  • with those massive batteries - A ?
That lasted about 6 hours ?
    And weighed about ?

    #nostagia

  • #nostalgias not what it used to be
know what you mean though- and still theres kids riding without f*******g lights!!

  • All the bike shops were run by old working class ex cyclists in those days

  • Used to cycle up on my Ron Cooper

Cool as fook. Bookmarked for Friday Smiles.

  • [QUOTE=cornelius blackfoot;4090948 it's good enough to have its own thread...[/QUOTE]

    Yes

Good post Corny- watched this yesterday and recognized some of the white paint cycle markings are still around today in London.

  • Sure I recognise that bloke at 1:30 from Northampton mtb club, Treads.. buggered if I can remember his name tho.

  • I don't remember London streets being that quiet/empty

    filmed at 6am on a Sunday ?

  • That's not 1984, it's just last year's hipsters and some clever editing.

  • is that David Cameron in very short shorts and flip flops at 7:25?

    Stuff of nightmares.
