  • I don't remember watching any of the racing last year.

edit: actually I do remember ben dressed as a penguin so must have watched that race at least.

  • Was thinking of coming down after work, but would rather bike up than take public transport. Obviously don't want to leave it locked anywhere though, so is it going to be too much of a ball and chain and resign myself to the trains? Presumably I won't get near the course with a bike, but there is enough going on to be a good evening out?

"Secure cycle parking" for anyone riding there. Win.

  • I've entered. Curious what gear ratios people ran last year/are thinking of running this year?

  • Which race?

I ran 46/16. Not sure if it was best for speed, but needed something low for the corners and uphill sections.

My thoughts exactly, I'd rather be spinning it on the straights than grinding out of the corners. Would imagine it'd hurt coming out of that snow hill corner on a big gear. Was the pace yo-yo-ing much? Are you racing again this gear?

  • Not even sure if I'm racing again, gonna see how I feel next week (just before closing date). I certainly advise trying to hold onto the main group - getting dropped makes it much harder!

  • Are you racing again this gear?

Ha that should have said are you racing again this year, anyway you answered my question. Might see you there: Team LFGSS! Reckon you'd run a different ratio if you were to race again?

  • ^I'd probably up it a little, but only a touch.

    In other news, perhaps this is why the CX race was bumped;

  • £25 fuckin quid (+booking) for a seat in the stand!
looking forward to beers. boris bike race should be a laugh. d'ya think they'll have to pay if it's not back on time?

  • I've entered. Curious what gear ratios people ran last year/are thinking of running this year?

around the 80" mark would be best I recon. Finger_jockey you were the chap on the Moda yeah?

  • Yep, that was me. Mine was 76", so that would make sense that 80 sounds about right.

  • Can you put spds on the Boris bike I wonder...

  • Is there any value in getting a grandstand seat? Or shall I just drunkenly elbow some kids out of the way to get to the front?

  • there's about 60 of us going from a facebook group trying to herd forumengers into attending, if you want to rub shoulders with the unwashed forum masses a grandstand seat might not be the best place to do it from, I bet they don't let you drink tramp beers either.

  • Near the finish line is the only place to be really.

  • i'll bring the police tape

  • is that footage of them doing naughty things so we can blackmail them in to not kettling us?

  • summin like that

  • Lets just get the same area we had last year, that worked well. We don't need the secure bike parking, we will just have our pile as per normal, no.

  • ^this

  • According to Nocturne's Twitter feed, the boris bike comp looks like an invite-only affair, primarily made up from z-list celebs.

  • if boris is doing it can we throw stuff at him?

  • Real life super mario kart!!!

  • Of course. Remember, though; he's made of Teflon, nothing sticks.
