The only thing 'in the house' in SE23 these days is Farrow and Ball paint.
I didn't say SE23

The kids just walked past me as they got off the bus and they stank heavily of vinegar and mud.

Young, thick headed girls need to stop opening their legs for the superstars of the hood.
Ok I take it back. Girls keep getting preggers to Nikeeee D. I'm sure you're special to him. I'm sure he'll stick around this time and you're different to his raft of baby mothers. It will be different this time.

Most of the young boys are sadly a write off. Cannot be told, will not listen. The sad part is girls are out performing the boys by such a huge distance yet they go on repeating the (usually) futile choices. About time communities did more to keep young men in check from a much earlier age.
Takes a village to raise a child etc

my mother was a director for a crime prevention trust in Lambeth, yoot orientated, ran like a mentoring scheme I think, one of the first charities to get cut under the Conservatives in their crisis cuts
such lack of foresight imo -

That is really bad. Schemes like those are so important. So what did your mum do next? -

I believe the bodies that do good should be independent entities, not solely government run
a "cradle to grave " approach to crime also, in that once offenders are incarcerated, they are made to learn/get trade/job skillset, UK has the one of the highest rates of recidivist offending, if the model used in Denmark was implemented, this could help
currently, most prisons are privatized, with "workshops" making plugs or wheel barrow wheels that generates income for the private company, and does nothing for rehabilitation
I read some where or heard, that when private companies put the tender in to build a prison, those successful are given an almost guarantee for the amount of "bums on seats"
any govt. that does this surely has no agenda/capacity to implement socially orientated schemes -

^ This. I think the government, local councils should help finance the third sector and work in partnership with schemes/projects where appropriate but definitely not run them. The Coalition has enough to manage badly.

well. I just think , given the NSA spy shit the American govt has been implicated in can mean some govts have secret agendas, and the billionaire boys club currently in power in the uk, i know it's tired argument, but they would not have a clue about the "man on road", so how could any one of that mindset makes decisions on a social demographic they have no experience or empathy with

I'm possibly a bit less cynical about them ^ and obvs there are some great people in government/local councils too, but still, I don't think these charitable organisations should be in any way politicised.

Yes but sales of personal security equipment will be on the rise which gives the shareholders higher profits?
