Full bike rules and regs are up at the Lee Valley site now, basically copy-pasta of Manchester regs so clinchers are OK as long as they are proper rubber (no silicone) and clean.
Users must use Continental, Schwalbe, Tufo or Vittoria clinchers or tubulars (black tread only), 21 mm or wider. Tyres must be inflated to 8 bar (119psi), and the pressures, and tyre condition, checked regularly. Do not use Michelin tyres or any dual compound tyres or tyres with coloured treads.
One question to which I can't seem to find an answer; where is the car park? We're supposed to carry our bikes to the infield to keep the tyres clean, so I want to know whether that wlak is going to count as a warm up :-)

Any idea about Challenge tyres?
-
• #132
Or the Veloflex I have on my track iron at the moment. Obviously, to anybody with a clue, both would be suitable, but Manc. has never updated it's list to reflect small brands, and I doubt that the Pringledrome will either, so you'd have to rely on the good will and intelligence of the inspector on the day. Any Pro/Elites turning up with Dugast or FMB will be in the same position :-)

Vittoria Diamante Pro Pista is reasonably priced and I've always like their 220tpi Nylon tyres, might be worth getting some to avoid arguments and keep the Veloflex for outdoors.

• #134
So is supersonic alright?
-
• #135
Apparently, as long as they're black, i.e. current production Black Chili compound, not the old grey ASC ones
-
• #136
What can you get in 21mm? My Harry Quinn won't fit most brands of 23mm under the fork crown
-
• #137
Vittoria Diamante Radiale 22 is quite skinny.
-
• #138
great - what's it like for height/radius compared with a Maxxis Re-fuse 23c?
-
• #139
No idea, I've never had the Maxxis. Width on my Hed3 is about 21.5mm, and they are quite thin tread so they come up roughly circular cross section, not triangular like city/touring tyres.

Trying to organise accreditation for this is a nightmare. I will almost have to take 4 days off just to sort it out.

I need to submit the count of riders that will attend as well as the number of coaches we need to hire and bikes we need to hire.
Not everyone that has signed up will participate, and I'm strongly inclined to limit it to 60 people.
This will NOT be based on the first 60 above, it will be based on the first 60 to pay when we sell entry tickets (which we must do to cover the cost of the track hire).
The tickets will include bike hire at the velodrome and entry.
By limiting it to 60, every rider who buys a ticket will get a good few turns on the track and participate in several races.
Ideally, everyone will have done their induction sessions in advance so we can dedicate all 3 hours to riding and having fun with a fairly tight but not overly aggressive schedule.
I'll also put us down for 100 spectators (allowing friends and family and random others to come).
And for the pre-requisite number of coaches that we are obliged to take for that number of riders.
Any suggestions that these numbers are wrong should be made today.

Do we have to do induction individually then? I was thinking there will be a session for us to complete induction in one go?

What if I don't want to hire a bike, can we have cheaper entry costs?
-
• #150
What kind of bikes are the hire bikes? Could actually be better than my bike.
Nice one. I got accreditation vouchers recently, so will be ready to ride by July.
