Travelling with work at the moment and missing the opportunity to ride this massively.
Do we have enough serotta owners on the forum to start an owners thread? I can think of 5-6 which probably isn't enough yet....
I've just entered this club, excitedly waiting for a '96 Atlanta to be shipped to where I am. It's full nine speed dura ace and will be filling duties as a general road ride, with any luck blowing by carbon frames on the local hills. So stoked.

^You going to start a projects thread?
The Atlanta will be making its first (in my hands) foreign adventure this weekend - four days in Majorca.

Bring on the rain London... I'm off to sunnier shores.

What bike box is that? Need something similar to take mine to Turkey.
-
• #57
Good box, I used one to take my bike with me last time I flew with it.
-
• #58
Cheers - will give them a call.

350 Majorcan kms later I have added a garmin and a compact chainset to my shopping list.
Some amazing roads and riding there...

Yeah come on, I've just booked for October. Not that I need to get any more excited...
-
• #62
Oh yeah, how much did the bike box weigh? Did you pack any more in or take as in the pic? (Trying to work out if I can get away with BA's standard allowance.)
-
• #63
As well as what's in the pic I threw in a bunch of gels, helmet, clothing. Came to 25kg in total and they seemed fine with that at the airport. I was flying ba as well, not sure what the upper limit is.

Long and not overly interesting but this was us descending the final climb on the final day...
-
• #65
Oof! Nice. Official limit is 23kg but between that and 23kg hand luggage allowance, should be all good. Cheers!

The comments earlier in the thread re the corsa tubs lack of grip in the wet was also validated on day two of the trip. I came down decending in the mist - front wheel out from under me. Took a while to get my confidence back and I'm no longer that comfortable with them in the wet.
I think Veloflex was the go to option when I asked in the Tub thread - think I will look into that as an option.

Conti sprinters gatorskins are super grippy in the dry and wet but they don't last long.

Took some brave pills last night... the result was surprisely satisfactory.

Having added a compact crankset to the 'to-do list' on the serotta I am contemplating going the whole hog and replacing the entire groupset. I was planning on replacing the brakes anyway and my man maths has almost justified it as there are some really decent deals on 2nd tier groupsets at the moment from Sram and Shimano.
Question is Ultegra 6800 or Force 22? I'm leaning towards Sram as I prefer the hoods and doubletap shifting.

thats the answer I am afraid

Why not try my CSi with 6800 before making a decision?
-
• #73
Thanks for the offer Dammit - I had a a go on a mate's Canyon with 6800 in Mallorca. His bike was a bit big but I think that might be the same case with your CSi. I was really impressed with the shifting - especially upfront where my Sram Red can get a bit sloppy at times.
I guess the only reason I posed the question is because the Force is over £100 more... In for a penny, in for a pound I suppose. Reading reviews it sounds like the sloppiness (sp?) I get with mine isn't an issue with the new Sram setups.

New frock for the Atlanta... 6800 ordered. Down the rabbit hole I go - new hubs required next. Sensible option looks to be Ultegra but I'm tempted by Hope Mono RS.

Or a whole new wheelset... dont tell the fiance.
