Had a spin round Herne Hill this evening to play with (mainly) the angle of the bars.
After an amount of fiddling it's now very comfortable in the drops, can't wait for the new Arione VS to turn up to see if I can recapture the comfort of last week.
And 48/18 is not really "track suitable", at ~300 watts my lack of souplesse was evident, so I've ordered a smaller sprocket for any further track outings.
I've still got the -17/120mm Arx Pro and Deda track drop combo from the old Fixed, bang those on, brake and 'guards off, 15T on the back and wallop.

what lights did you go for in the end?

Your left knee doesn't even last 600km on gears!

I now know. Sadface.

Supernova E3

Surely you had to remove the lights for track too??
-
• #436
I probably would have to if I was using this "properly"- I've only used this at Herne Hill on the "road bike test night" that Crystal Palace tri club run, when you can spend two hours flogging it round on a Brompton if you want.

NIght-keirins are going to be the next big thing though. -

Carrying my bike down the stairs this morning I noticed it was making an odd noise, coming from the rear wheel.
I grabbed the rim and wobbled the wheel- to reveal that the DS axle bolt was almost totally loose.
I think someone must have started trying to steal the rear wheel when the bike was locked up outside Sainsbury, then spotted that their was a Mini-Evo round the rim and frame and stopped, but didn't do the bolt back up, leaving that as a little surprise for me.

At just over 2,000 miles I thought I'd take some more pictures.
I have to cut the mudguard stays down still:
Dynamo wiring through the frame, and both brake levers operate the front brake via the Problem Solvers device:
Who can tell me what the Volvo reference is in this photo?
I honestly can't overstate how much I love the dynamo lights:

The Volvo reference? The paint?
I am just building the exact same lighting set up into one of my bikes. (I assume that is the E3 triple 2 headlight?)
That is a very impressive build. -

The paint is the same as was used on the 850 T-5R's, 855 is the model designation.
Volvo nerd stuff.
Yes- it's the E3, fantastic light, totally worth the money.
Thanks! It's the bike Matt and I were probably happiest with of the three we took to Bespoked- it's complicated, but in a simple way, if that makes any sense?
Maybe best put as a lot of thought has gone into making what is ultimately a simple bike.

Have an E3, great light, beam a little narrow for some.

I was wondering why you didn't go for a disc brake up front on this one, with something like the Alfine dynamo hub?
-
• #444
Fork, basically - it would need a fork with a road bike A-C, with disc mounts and mudguard mounts that can take a 25c tyre with guards or a 28 without.
Find me one of those and I shall be grateful!
-
• #445
I would prefer a disc on the front, and Shutter Precision make a version of the dynamo that I have with ISO disc mounts.
-
• #446
A CX fork would sufficient despite the bigger gap surely?
Getting the disc specific SP soon, be interesting to feel the drag compare to my SON.

(if you use quick release mudguard mounts)

Bit too tall, and a bit too ugly I think, but good spot.
