Thanks for the reply. Will send over my measurements in a mo and you can tell me if I have Hoy-like thighs or not :)

New "Commuter Jacket" is mad expensive.
-
• #330
This is how it goes:
- New business starts.
- New business does well.
- New business grows too fast and struggles.
- New business decides selling less stuff for more money is the key.
- It doesn't work like that.
- New business starts.

although Rapha managed it ok, i think they were more ahead of the curve in terms of where the market was- now everyone is getting in on the game....
-
• #332
Rapha's base is people who actually ride bicycles, and need clothes for riding in. The city clothes it sells are supplementary to that base. I don't think there's a base for city riding clothes on their own - certainly not if the don't fit very well and are too expensive and look like they come from your gran's wardrobe, like the latest jacket. Sorry Nick.

Who writes their copy?! New silk scarf is "very very beautiful". Brilliant.

that whole range in the email today. I am sympathetic to the brand as commuting gear but seriously who wants to cycle in cashmere? wtf?

much putney

Since that sample sale debacle they can >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
-
• #337
If I thought they'd misjudged the market prior to the launch of this luxury collection, I'm doubling down on that assertion now.

My "rain" jacket is also now, completely porous. I've tried Vulpine recommendations too, to no avail. Additionally, the magnetic fasteners cause the collar to fold over the whole time and the dye has worn away where my bag touches it.
Considering I've worn it only a handful of times and even fewer of those in the actual rain, I consider it fairly shoddy, especially for the price.
-
• #339
I like mine, but it's completely useless in a hint of rain and I'd have probably been just as happy with a much cheaper standard Harrington style jacket from somewhere else, could've got it in black then too.

Yeah this posh stuff is bonkers. Who the hell is their market? Going off them except for the merino tshirts and an old softshell jacket. Their waterproofs really aren't good for anything other than a light shower in my experience.
-
• #342
Ha, yup. At least they've added some caveats to the bottom of their email - no exchanges, no refunds under £40. Although I wonder if it should be a bit more prominent...
-
• #343
site down...
interesting comments above about rain jacket - i have one too and my partner has an old patagonia ski jacket - her's after many washes still beads - mine after just wearing it twice is now wetting out :(
-
• #344
Good to know they all learnt from the last sample sale! Any white label platform would be better than what they have now.

Pretty sure that's not allowed - the Consumer Contracts prohibits it.
-
• #346
Yep. And the Unfair Terms in Consumer Contracts legislation renders obsolete any terms which seek to amend the Consumer Contracts legislation.
They can refuse exchanges but they can't refuse refunds.

website up, filters for sizes dont seem to work, a lot listed but most of it is ALL sizes out of stock (so why list them!)
-
• #349
In a reversal of all that is good and proper - the site (inc. the size filters) seems to work fine in IE, but no other browser currently (well firefox/opera/chrome).

I just gave up it's not worth my time trying to mess around on that site
No. It's a special sex move I've developed, but I need money for lube.
