Rattlecan/aersosol clear coat? I've tried that before and it didn't offer any protection at all.
I quite like the rust but it's getting a bit heavy in places.

Yeah I found a crack at the downtube/headtube join so stripped that area to see if it was just a crack in the paint which it was fortunately. Then I sort of had to strip the rest of it.
I rubbed it down with some engine oil but it needed to be left in the sun for a while or in front of an industrial heater for the oil to get into the pores of the steel, which it didn't. So it rusted pretty quickly. I'm going to de-rust as it's a bit much currently. Gonna do the oil method again but properly with a heater. A heat gun might do it too actually now that I think about it.
