Khan's ridiculous self promotion called out by Gilligan again in the Guardian...
According to Khan 40km of segregated cycle track has been built since he took office... Which is quite feat given no-one knows where it is. And £50m on new signs for the LCN was well spent also.

More on Westminster's plans for Oxford Street:
None of this seems to have advanced very far, but the implications for cycling are alarming in this version, too, as narrowing to one lane each way probably means standard-width lanes (3.25-3.5m), which would not allow riders to pass vehicles easily (not that it's easy at the moment).

What if you are a member of the public who doesn't like pizza?

You have to go hungry.

Load up on garlic bread and potato wedges.

So, the changes at Lambeth North/Baylis Road are finally under way.
Just need them to pull their finger out and do the IMAX roundabout, and resurface upper ground, and ban half the taxis, and it'll be quite a good area for cycling.

Email received this afternoon from TfL;
'Construction on the Acton to Wood Lane improvements is underway. The scheme will provide 3.5km of shared use and cycle track at footway level on the southern side of the A40/Western Avenue. From 8 April to late 2019, the A40 will be reduced from three lanes to two lanes for westbound traffic, 24 hours a day during works, and the speed limit near works will be reduced from 40 mph to 30 mph for safety reasons.
Signage will be in place to assist cyclists during works.
For more information please visit TfL.'
Presumably face masks and respirators will available track side?

I might not have kept up with that but I thought that bit had been ditched?
Wood lane is shaping up and with Westfield2 finished and 'TV centre' building works nearly finished it looks more tolerable at the moment.....maybe this will be one of those lovely shared pedestrian/cycling use developments...
The traffic impact for this work has impact across west London! - http://content.tfl.gov.uk/improvement-works-wood-lane-to-acton-phase-2-v5.pdf

I might not have kept up with that but I thought that bit had been ditched?
Given it's just crappy shared use pavement it will be right up Khan's alley. Also allows him to get closer to the tripling of segregation he promised before the election and is no-where near achieving...

Summary from HackneyCyclist here https://twitter.com/Hackneycyclist/status/1126430008124289024
Sounds like another Vincent Stops masterpiece of a hostile cycling environment. Remember, cycling with buses is fun!

HA! At least East gets more development. Want to try cycling in any NW postcode?
-
• #215
Thanks, finally found the person who had blocked me and been replying on my tweets.
-
• #216
Yeah, its pretty sleazy behaviour for a public figure to make use of a medium such as twitter and block people who simply disagree with him. When I was on twitter he had blocked me for no known reason.

HA! At least East gets more development.
I genuinely don't know what that means, what development has Hackney put forward that's actually improved cycling conditions? There are some bits and pieces but I find it full of rat runs and angry aggressive drivers. When I lived in Kilburn I found the cycling conditions generally much nicer, though this is probably due to the wider roads allowing for greater separation of modes.

Not sure I'd call hackneycyclist a public figure but then no idea who is behind the account.

The entirely predictable hysteria, particularly with the last two areas, has kicked off.
-
• #222
The highway authority doesn't support the scheme, so it's unlikely to happen. Given the previous animosity between K&C and City Hall, I imagine the fronts may not soften here.

The only celebrity mention is that tw*t Jeremy Clarkson.
-
• #224
Depressing that celebrities are being quoted making up facts and there is no clarification that what they saying is completely made up.

Tis the era of trump..if your famous and have enough twitter followers you can make anything up.
That said k&c are massively anti cycling...high street ken is crying out for segregated lanes and there's plenty of room and would be incredibly successful...but they have blocked it every time. (CS9)
They even agreed to refused to allow Kensington palace gardens (billionaires way) to go onto the quietways map. It's a nice wide road open to residents only linking 2 high streets. Perfect for cyclists.
Crazy.
I supported them all apart from "no drinking outside pubs".
