I believe he is playing with Nik.

euro ringer, not based in uk? tut tut ;)

• #129
Yeah I do live in Germany but I'm playing with Nik and unfortunately I really can't on that weekend. But I guess if everybody else can, I'll have to pass.
I know this sounds stupid, but shouldn't you first get all the teams that want to participate and then see when they all can? The more teams you get together on the same weekend, the more representative it is for an actually qualifier... Just my 2 cents. -

Yeah I do live in Germany but I'm playing with Nik.
So this is allowed? I thought all members had to be based in the uk? Chances are we are only gonna get 2 more spots, whats the point in having country allocation if people are gonna mix teams?

• #131
2/3 rule in't it?
-
• #132
You're not allowed to play in two qualies. So Mattihieu can't play in the DE champs.

Righto

Well actually I would be allowed to play them but would have to give away one of the spots if I get in both ways (that's what she said)

I don't like that, Luca was scared of looking at the court too intently in case the French took his place away. You should have to pick before playing.

well right now there isn't even a German Champ or Qualifier planed. So it is hard for me to pick. And as I'm playing with Matt and Nik, I'm picking the UK one.
And If we were to get a spot through the UK Qualifier, I would play the German Champ, making sure they know I have a spot. I'm not trying to steel anybody's spot, just to play more polo. -

thats cause the french say you cant play in the french qualies if you play in another one. we dont have that rule. Its fair nuff if Mattieu plays imo

The euros also had that rule last year (just FYI, may have no impact on this year)

The thing that would be bad is he plays and it affects results with draws in certain rounds, say they knock a team out then get knocked out and don't qualify and then go on to qualify in Germany anyway, no problem for him but could potentially fuck someone over.
Although it's likely to be round robin ain't it? So might not actually matter.
One of those things where a EHBPA would be useful, so glad that's moving.
Just to say, no problem at all with you playing, would be nice to see you, I just reckon you should have to pick and choose your route.
Five in a row.

Well As these things are usually Swiss Round or Round Robin, I don't really see a technical Problem (moral maybe). Because not qualifying in the UK but qualifying in Germany would give away only my spot on the UK Team but not the entire team no? I mean I helped a team qualify two years ago because their 3rd couldn't make it and I was around. I then didn't play the Euros. My point is, I am not the whole team, as it is 2/3 Rule, I could also just be seen as a simple sub in any team no? Anyway, like I say, no Champs or Qualifier planed in Germany yet and I would really like to play with Nik and Matt so I decided to pick the UK Qualies. But if I can't make it, it will be the exact opposite, a sub would play with them an then what? could I play the germans (maybe with Nik or Matt and a 3rd)?
Like you said, we need some sort of Association that clears this kind of stuff.

The 2/3 rule is open to abuse if you can get in people who are playing in other champs/qualies, I'm sure I'd have done better last weekend if I'd replaced myself with Luca for example. In a round robin there wouldn't be a problem, just an extra game, all the other teams would still play each other and ranking would be accurate even if a team dropped out as they qualified elsewhere. Swiss would be different as not everyone would play each other and that could skew results as you might beat team A who drop down and team B who you didn't play get through, but if A plays B then maybe A would have won and qualified instead..
Hopefully you can make it and play over here, if not and nik/matt qualify then you could be their 2/3, I guess if you are not playing here then you can sub in Germany too, I think the problem would be playing in 2 champs/qualies, even as a sub. Maybe with your situation this isn't a problem but without a rule like that in place you open up people getting ringers in to qualify.
Obviously this is all my opinion and I'm not actually in charge of anything. -

The weekend before clashes with Farnborough 4x4.
gah! i am also playing that!

• #146
You might want to check with the organisers of this years euros.
This thing in future will be more clear with EHBPA but that is not here yet. Just make it nice and simple and pick the UK.

• #147
the euros had lots of rules they didnt bother enforcing last year. Alejandro was an illegal player. I ribbed him hard the cheating bastard.
-
• #148
... bu then is coward worm team mates didnt turn up and he became a legal sub due to the 2/3 rule. Well done Ale! ;)

Second qualifier is provisionally happening in Bristol, probably 17-18th of May. As I said before, depending on the number of teams contending the location could be either: 2 courts 1 day or 1 court 2 days.
Is this still the provisional date for the Qualifiers?
don't you live in Germany dude?
