  • Fork?

  • Rychtarski frames are basically always MAX, no?

  • It is Columbus Life, only fork is C Max

  • It is Columbus Life, only fork is C Max

    I want one.

  • Just picked this up, another NZ Made max frame.

  • Troppo. Needs base-bars & extensions quick.

I may have got the wrong end of the stick, but I was under the impression that the thinking was big chainstays for stiffness, then modest seat-stays/wishbone section for compliance?

  • AFAIK it's always going to be lighter (with the same qualities) with 2 full-length stays.

I'm a sucker for an English so I love that^ Please don't post the profile showing the nodder geo.

  • There is a reason I picked that photo.

I admit to having a dog in this fight as I'm going for a wishbone rear end, for the very reasons I mentioned. Max top tube and Spirit downtube, so I think I can get away with mentioning it in this thread.

  • I believe you can lose a little out-of-the-saddle stiffness with a wishbone. But something like that English probably takes all that into account.

Max (stiff) TT and Sprit (light/small/thin) DT is an unusual choice no?

    (I'm not a frame builder)

  • It's entirely possible I'm getting the names wrong, Ryan has referred to my downtube as both Max and Spirit Mega.

  • Same as this one (as seen on my Oak):

  • Ah. They are massive diameter tubes!

My track frame (which pretty much lives on rollers) is Spirit throughout but standard Keirin/traditional sized tubes. It's quite stiff for a steel track frame. That^ should be in a different league.

As I understand... road bikes aim for stiffer DTs than TTs (I'm sure you're aware of this).

  • Hopefully!

On the new one we're using a PF30 bracket, but on the Oak it's BSA- here you can see the sheer size of the downtube, having a rebate cut for the seat-tube to fit into it as it overlaps the BB where the seat-tube attaches:

Re TT- yarp, on top of that.

  • Stiff, strong* and fun. Looks amazing.

*don't dent it. Or dent it and don't worry about denting it!

  • My Track & Road bike :

  • Can we have a full frontal of the cougar please?

  • In fact, it's a Bottechia respray in Neon Yellow and resticked Cougar.

    Dat ass thread.

    I can stand behind that...
