Cool, I hope to document something similar in the new year, details to follow once confirmed:)

Awesome. Do they still make frame lug sets?
Wish they still made that sleek elegant fork crown, the aero / internal lugged one.
-
• #1329
No, no lugs unfortunately.
And crowns are very limited. There are plenty of NOS ones around but they're all 1" and I'm planning to go 1-1/8" on both
And yeah I'm going to make the forks :) -

Ah fair enough! Looking forward to seeing them come together
And yeah I'm going to make the forks :)

Why cheap headset on nice bike?
-
• #1336
Probably because the steerer was cut very short for a low stack shimano headset which was later replaced by a cheap low stack steel headset.

How much do Columbus max frames go for these days?
Ive got this custom made John hardisty road frame. Looking to sell it but have no idea what it’s worth. Has definitely seen a lot of use and is a bit ratty…

Nice frame but looks like its had a hard life.
Someone looking to do their own custom paint on it would maybe be tempted, but I'd still want to see what lurks beneath that chain stay wrap first, considering the ratty nature of the rest of it.
What size is it? I don't know anything of the builder so don't know if there's extra cred in the name, and someone may be prepared to pay a couple of hundred for the fork as Max forks are ace, so I'd guess about 300-400 at a push, assuming there's no horrors under that chainstay wrap.

300-400
Woah! I sold an Eddy Merckx MXL frameset for £300- in better condition than this. And it’s not like it was snapped up either
-
• #1347
OK maybe I've gone a bit high then, was your sale ages ago as sounds like you sold off your MXL cheaps!
-
• #1348
Maybe 3 years ago!

But I'm old and love Max frames so am obviously in a minority.

Pre Brexit and Pre Covid, that was a different world :)
Yeah but it's not new old stock, just new new. Columbus make Max tubes new again these days.
@Cupcakes I will try to remember to take pictures as I progress
