What length are the cranks on a 14" wheel bike? You can get profile bmx cranks in 140mm
-
• #533
90mm. Turn 3 are the only option near but he's gone awol. :(

Bike a success inasmuch as it is the right shade of red which is the only thing they care about.
Having now done quite a few of these now, the biggest thing I have learned is it's madness to try and jump from 12" balance bikes to 16", it held my eldest back for ages as I was being mean and trying to avoid building an extra bike, which I ended up having to do anyway.
As you can see, youngest will be off the 14" before long, but that's far better than her just not riding her bike as it's too big. Plus if you're buying isla bikes etc... you can just sell them on and won't lose too much if you look after them.

I would genuinely buy this once it’s upgraded @coldharbour

I really need one of these for the firstborn once she's old enough to balance herself.

That time of year again, over engineered bikes for children that could just have hand me downs!

This is 'true' 16", not 16 1 3/8 that Alice's old one was, as there's far more tyres available.
Thomson finishing kit, Easton bars, frog rims and profile hubs and modified profile cranks (thanks to dov for the rear).
As is usual everything is scrap, so going for an interesting top tube config.

Have failed to build proper wheels or make the cranks in time for birthday, but these will do as place savers. Came out very light, child happy, the end.
For 3 weeks until next childs bike is needed

Top tube and seat stays are wishbone material, chain stays are the off cuts from small isens seat stays.

Forks are off cut bits from @BareNecessities forks, bent, then used to make a lugged unincrown to take smaller legs. Drop outs were machined from plate as I didn't have any PMW ones floating around. Headset was from @tomsvoboda sad bike that got run over by parcel farce.

Too good...
Didn't do a 'current projects' for this as it's been being built for months, plus it's basically the same as the others, plus I didn't have the energy, but I built child number 2 her first pedal bike. Went 14" wheels with this one as first born took a while to get used to the bigger 16" wheels. Frame is 953 tubes, fork is stainless lugs and carbon tubing, with PMW drop outs and steerer. Couldnt source a lot of bling parts for it, it's a lot harder with these smaller cranks and wheels, so the only cool stuff is CK headset, Thomson seat clamp and pro seat post.
