  • My 2013 Beargrease. It's ridiculously fun (naturally) and light enough for me (11.9 kg unloaded).

  • I was planning my roadie-ing calender yesterday. Then I stumbled apon a fatbike race in a few months. So tempted. Maybe next year.

  • Nice, but that back end looks weird.

I think rocking dropouts would look much nicer than sliders on that frame.

  • I think i read that it's so the wheel can be slid back in the dropouts and mudguards fitted :-) possibly. Maybe.

  • Nope read that about something else. The sliders are optional. Standard 44 bikes fat bike comes with paragon wright dropouts.

  • More likely for options like single speed or hubs gears.

  • Yep you're right. But I didn't need to tell you that anyway

  • Reported for inferring I am a righteous cunt.

  • Very nice, that.

  • It's a little underweight for this thread still but the 1x1 is now sporting a 26x3 Nokian Gazza on the front and the 26x2.7 Big Earl on the rear.

Perhaps it could be classed as 26+ like the Krampus is 29+.

  • Looks great, and I'm seriously regretting not buying cake's 1x1 now, because you've proven how flexible it is as a bike.

Though, that being said, my fatty is hilarious fun- when I get the chance to ride it.

  • Bunch of us last week on the river

  • Very cool.

Still waiting on a new chain for mine. Although we havent had any snow for weeks. everthing is dry and clear with salt lines from the last salting. Actually thinking of taking the fixed gear out this weekend on 20mm tyres. Its -3C so that could be stupid.

  • Might be going for a Genesis fat bike to train for winter race.

  • Lazy question.

But what rims does the Genesis come with?

My Fatbike is put together from the best bits I could afford. With what I hope is the best design for my needs. But my rims are dogshit (Surly fat tyres are also a bit shit for the monies). So it falls down a bit. I guess the bike is only as strong as the weakest link.

  • I guess the bike is only as strong as the weakest link.

In my case this is always me.

  • In my case this is always me.

I'd discounted myself, as a replaceble varible.

But I find I need highish pressure to aviod the bead popping off. Which isnt always what the conditions require. Annoys the feck out of me.

I obviously need HED carbon fat rims.

  • Have your tyres popped off? My large lites have been great.

  • Happened a few times. I'm running BFLs so its a bigger tyre. But the sidewalls of the rims allow one side of the tyre to move loads, letting the over side slip out. Might add some draft excluder foam tape.

One morning I was half way to work. Let a bit of air out but couldnt work the bead back in. Got so annoyed I tried to force the bead in with a key. Which obviously resulted in a popped inner. Grrrrr.

Really want some 90mm Fatback rims.

  • Reckon I'll be able to adjust one of these into my road position and have it slicked up? I'm beginning to think they're the only thing suitable for London roads and they might slow me down enough such that I reach 40 years.

  • Yes, do it.

  • But what rims does the Genesis come with?

    Surly.
