I was doing some Deliveroo in Edinburgh last year, quite enjoyed it.
Anyway, had a pick up in the Omni-centre which is a large building with a cinema and a lobby area and 3 or 4 restaurants. It was quiet because of Covid but still some people milling about. I decided, it would be ok to wheel my bike in, non carpeted of course, to the Nandos to do the pick up but was met with a maintenance man.
"naw naw naw you cant bring your bike in here" and for some reason I didnt just accept it and leave it. Was a little stressed.
"Why not?"
"eh...eh health n safety"
"Away ye go..."
"Aye dragging dirt through the place"
"Awrite, shall I take my shoes off n all....right fine"So in a moment of petulance, I decided to do that thing where you kick down on the left pedal with your right foot and wheel off towards the big doors standing on the pedal....the slippy floor had other ideas. I slowly and in instalments, slid out, hit the floor, big stupid bright turquoise cube bag and me flopping about on the ground in front of several people who had seen and heard the whole thing.
This snapped me out of being an arsehole so I went back and whole heartedly apologised to the maintenance man who was just trying to do his job.
The cringe is yet to subside.
