...rolling a tad sludgier?
Lies. 23mm tyres are history.

I can see the logic.

Did you go down, or through some scenery?
Are you ok, whatever happened?

I'm finding that a different job/commute is making me enjoy being on the bike again, although at times it feels like a slog.
Had a lot of 'I really cant be bothered' moments over the summer, so its nice to just jump on the bike and go for the moment. I think I managed 2 rides between August and October though, and 2 runs since the marathon in April!

Wait - do people on here actually ride their bikes?
-
• #58
I'm relieved to note that it varies! Hippy I hope you're ok? Looks like you slid a fair way there? I have to say I wish I'd slid further... I went from 22mph to 0 in about ten feet!

Are you ok, whatever happened?Yeah, got a bit excited realising I don't actually hate this cycling thing... first fucking downhill and I get a little bit excited, hoon 'round the first corner and bin it on the second.
Obviously the road is a lot worse off than I am ;)

That's the worst thing about crashing.
I can cope with the soreness and healing of road rash but I hate having to buy new clothes.

Oh and heal fast.
-
• #67
There's nothing much to heal (we'll see for sure in the morning). Most of the damage was to kit. Bike's a bit lighter now too. To be fair, that gilet is 10+ years old. The knicks were quite new though but Lusso cheapies. Helmet has a few pieces out of it but I used the one it replaced for 5 years with a huge crack in it so I'm not replacing this one so soon.

You've got "do a skid" all twisted.
Heal up.

Looks more like you lost your front wheel.

The sudden change in the weather must be another factor, Wrongcog? It's never as easy to do 40m in cold, pissy, gusty, dank, dark weather as it is in glorious sunny days...ahem, for most people anyway.
Also, it sounds like you may just be a bit bored of doing the same things week after week - have you tried out some different disciplines or even different sports altogether lately?
Obviously, the company you keep is really important too - having good riding buddies can make all the difference (that includes partners).

^ Wrong mojo!

:) Ride pals definitely help MM. I've some goodns but they're a bit quicker than me and if I'm off bike for a while I'm blowing like a whale keeping up. That's why I went out by myself on Saturday. Trying to get the old rhythm up. Not easy whilst making such regular acquaintance with the Tarmac!

No, I'm pretty sure I wouldn't have made it far from my house with no front wheel.
I find I feel fresher after a long ride. Whether it's the vibrations from 23/25mm tyres or the extra concentration dodging, guiding and generally steering the small tyres on sketchy surfaces I don't know.
It's not dissimilar to the way a stiff alloy frame can beat you up over distance vs a carbon compact frame. Or a track bike on the road vs a fixed gear road bike.
