  • I prefer Rollins.

When those walls close in around you
When all about you doubt you
When the world can live without you
Get a grip and keep it
You see how hard they'll shove you
Hate your guts and tell you they love you
    Get a grip right now
You see how far you get pushed
How long they'll hold you down
    Feed you lies
    Drive you insane
Give you poison to kill your pain
Know me - I see the fear in your eyes
Pull back - there are some things to realize
So hard to deal with the ones who aren't real
It's unbelievable what they'll put you through
    Twist you up inside
    Filthify and punish your mind
You don't have to live like that
You've got to get your self respect
Jump back, get your self respect
    You've got to jump back
    Keep your self respect intact
You've got to keep it like that
    Your self respect

Not as Bright and happy admittedly ;)

  • Oh god. Bothwell, no. Think about what you've just done.

  • well if there is anything guaranteed to get someone out of the house and wiping ones memory banks in the pain cave, it's an s-club 7 video

  • Yeah, because that's all you need freely playing through your mind as you're in the red and slowly grinding up a cat1 climb 'don't stop, never give up...' aaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhh.......

  • The Henry Rollins angry man thing is just a front.

This is what pushes us up that mountain, when legs are fading....

    R. Kelly - I Believe I Can Fly (Official music video) - YouTube

  • Not bette middler?

  • S Club 7 - Bring It All Back [OFFICIAL VIDEO] - YouTube

Bothwell, you're my hero. This is going on my running playlist.

  • Yeah that would make me want to run.

  • Away!

    :-D

  • A future Operation Yewtree in the making right there.

  • my legs ache for days after cycling now, previously didnt. Im not getting any faster either

    any ideas?..

  • cycle more, take it easier, try not to go into the red for extended periods to let your body adapt, then gradually extend rides by about 15km a week. I've a tendency to try and tear my legs off every time I go out but if you're in oxygen deficit all the time it's not helping anything, so it's better to ride to your heart rate monitor and stay within zone 3/4, increasing the speed as you get fitter and your heart rate drops.

It means you're getting stronger, give your legs time to recover and you will get better over time.

Such internet advice. Well meaning I don't doubt but... Booo.

  • any ideas?..

Eat healthily and soon after riding and learn to love DOMS like a son.

  • 's tru no?

I openly acknowledge I don't follow it but that's what I think when I stare at my heart rate nudge over 195 and my legs feel like they've been formed out of moulded dogfood.

Do you think you might have a medical problem? You're not going to get any medical advice here. What we can tell you is that your legs shouldn't ache after cycling (although you don't give any details about how far and how long you cycled). If you've overexerted yourself, it's quite normal to have a period of recovery to go through. If the symptoms persist, see a doctor.

  • im not cycling far - and no further than before.

Funny - I was thinking of seeing a doctor but didnt know if it was just a case of HTFU..

so i'm glad you suggested it

  • If the riding has stayed the same distance and perceived effort you've probably increased basic fitness? Have your taken your HR?

With your increased aerobic fitness you may be pushing the pedals harder (not necessarily with any more perceived effort) and some anabolic things are happening, the body is preparing for this repeated stress, some training is happening! I wouldn't like to make any assumptions beyond these.

If it's doms, you've nothing to worry about. If it's knees or hamstrings or something else that's different.

  • It's got hotter recently, had this affected your sleep? Lack of quality sleep makes my legs ache.

  • It's getting closer to Le Tour, everyone's trying harder and believing they should be going faster than they are.

im talking of a period of time over 4 months
