just got mt first ever fixed penalty notice for mounting the pavement to avoid a blocked road (no cycle lanes at all in it) but it was near an junction on cs7
my bad for being cheeky, but the copper told me that police on motorbikes are going to be patrolling the CS cycle lanes looking for any traffic infractions from cars and bikes, ASL creep/RLJing etc, and doing on the spot FPNs
apparently this teaches everyone a lesson about rules
is this what boarding school is like? -

That is outrageous. You should complain to the Met
(In fact I'm at a meeting tomorrow with someone from the Met cycle safety task force. I will raise this with them)Ask to know why they they're pushing helmet and hi viz over FREE training and reflective material please.

Helmets and hibiscus stopped you being killed when a lorry is on top of you, don't you know?

Good. This country needs more of that sort of thing. Better policed roads are a good thing.

My commute home left me very confused. After all this talk of hi-viz and helmet safety, I was bemused to see the only RLJ being commited by a guy in hi-viz, and a guy with a helmet strapped to his shoulder (broken collarbone?)
Does this mean I'm going to have to think for myself instead of following sound bites :(
Then to top it off, a bus driver attempting to drive across two lanes to get to his stop, saw me, and stopped to let me pass. im confused!!!

I'm guessing they'll actually be using the CS' on their motorbikes too

I actually felt quite anxious when I set off today, which is extremely rare. Not alleviated by the impatient twat who honked at me while I was minding my own business on the CS2 in Whitechapel, presumably it was to get me in the gutter so he could use the cycle path to overtake another vehicle that was going slower than him.
Cycling pass three lots of flowers at the sites of fatal collisions was sobering too.

An unusually balanced report on the main ITV News tonight

You know how every spring there are a spate of posts proclaiming "Noddergeddon!" due to the numbers of noobs and fairweather riders swelling the roads. Is it possible that this is Noddergeddon? Once you've had a few months of ca$h in your pocket from travel cards, or are still feeling good from not sitting in constant traffic jams, going back to those old ways is a bleak prospect. Are we seeing the first wave of inexperienced riders toughing it through their first dark, bleak winter?

Footage from f*cking londons calling in there , literally the amount of slating that individual alleycat has got cyclists is beyond belief from footage in the race being used in stuff like this or in other news stories

MG - I don't think it's coincidence it's got worse since the clocks changed, personally. Although I don't know if it's inexperience or just the larger number of riders on the road.

Your recommendation had me in hope before watching it, but I'm afraid it's just the usual, predictable, and dangerising message. I've seen dozens of reports exactly like it.

Do you mean the bit in which the rider gets squished between the bus and another vehicle? That's not from London's Calling. The clip is from this uploader: Cyclist in London, nearly gets himself killed. - YouTube
Edit: Just realised you may know something I may not know and it may have been filmed during London's Calling, after all. I was thinking of the Brunelle stuff.

Would they ever illustrate a road safety clip with footage of teenage chavs doing handbrake turns in Morrisons car park? Why include that alley cat footage? It has nothing to do with people in their sixties trying to get to work.

That's very generalising though, and not reflected in the fatalities this month. -

It's just a guess. How come it is not reflected?

I think Nigel has raised some interesting points in this thread, but Larry, Barry, Jerry and Harry should go back to being a boy band.
