got this via email yesterday...
"Hi
May I ask for some advice please.Years ago I contacted Ray Dobbins about a bike I was somewhat interested in selling. It's a Colnago Mexico with Gilco/Columbus tubing, fully pantographed with chromed chainstays, seat stays and fork-Supert Record. It was somewhat gifted to my by Mr Colnago at his workshop and assembled by his brother while I watched. Dobbins said this was a bike he 'gifted' to "Beautifull People". It is the one famously pictured being given by colnago to the Pope.
I,unfortunately gave away the tubular Ambrosio's and replaced with the great MA50's-the clincher version of the SSC's.
I am now more seriously considering selling this bike and inquire if there is a more proper way to do that other than ebay? I saw a similar bike on ebay, but am not sure, for around $5,000. That one was pristine condition, mine is not. Thanks "
sounds like something special, I await pictures!

dibs bars ;)

sure!
"Thanks. Let me see if I can do that.It hasn't been touched since the last time I dismounted lo those decades ago.
I will have to Gussie it up to sell, I suppose.
But your experienced eye will discern what it will look like once polished.
After minimal research I believe I was wrong saying it was the bike colnago gave the Pope. I mixed up being in his office chit chatting with a HUGE enlargement on the wall of that famous photo of him presenting the gold plated version to the Pope while my bike was being put together downstairs.
Collectibility and aesthetics aside: it is/was the best handling bike ever."

My LBS has this on sale at the moment. He's asking £1500 but it is in mint condition:

if mint, price seems fair

It really is. The pictures don't do it justice.

looks like an art decor master post 96, some folk do like a chrome fork though
Nice indeed!
