Paint is in really good condition, that's correct. Chromed downtube lug was a bit rusted but I could remove practically all of it. Has some paint chips, especially where the cables touched the frame and where the front brake has hit the downtube. The fork isn't as shiny as the photo suggests, it has lost a bit of its gloss. But overall it's in good condition indeed. Almost a shame to take the bike outside for a ride. ;-)

Really nice Wim! Yet another nice bike you have there, paint scheme is oozing appeal for me.
Thanks Darren. Number 3 is ready to race (correction: "ride"...). It took me some buying and selling again of bikes, components,... but I think I have reached the point I can go back to the routine of riding them without feeling the need of building new ones. I only want to finish my other Master Extra Light before July 12 (so I can ride the Gran Fondo Fausto Coppi with it).

question
Are these Mapei colours? And if so does the frame want DA or Campagnoliolio?
-
• #656
It has some typical Mapei-colours but not the Mapei-paint scheme:

i have this w.i.p in same decor, after asking on other fora i was told it is mapai gb decor
frame set looks to be 96 or later model, the Mapei GB team used that decor (95_97)
the actual decor was replicated across all pret a porter masters in a range of main colours
this is one I had in same decor but red, pre 96
i ripped the gear hanger, welded it , and sold to someone in japan, then i managed to get the same decor, size, better condition and a later model, the 96, which has the seat cluster clover lug cut out and the wider forks

there were two main mapei decors, the one with the cubes is the later version

this is likely to be off the peg rather than team bike, or would have shimano decal poss on chain stay, so if you wish it to be team spec, da 7700 would be right

Thanks
I thought I read that they stopped using 'Olympic' well before that -

Nice frame Ben

Right you are,
I think it's because Mapei stayed main sponsor for several years but co-sponsors changed. There was Mapei Clas, Mapei GB Latexco and finally Mapei Quick Step.
HillyBen's I like most. Nice frame!

forgot to put a smiley. There's a Colnago C40 "Gold Edition" for sale here in Belgium and this watch is part of the offer. Owner is asking 3200 euro for the bike (and the watch...)
-
• #666
The thing is one could put the Colnago logo on a toaster and people would pay over the odds for it.
-
• #667
agreed, take these for example, bought in a moment of madness
other brands are guilty as well
-
• #668
So the Colnago addiction has again reared it's ugly head and I've just built up this fixie skidder for a bit of fun in the summer when it comes. Nice flat cycle lanes by the sea where I live so hopefully I'll live to enjoy the experience of riding with no brakes.

what does anybody think of this:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Colnago-Super-roadbike-Shimano-Dura-Ace-Cinelli-excellent-/321700645775?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item4ae6da4b8fI'm asking because:
1) I'm coincidentally a few bits and pieces away from doing an almost identical build - right down to dura ace plus yellow cables, surely chosen to match the yellow lug cutouts, and I wonder what people think of it?
2) I'm curious if anybody thinks that really is original - the paint is in such good condition I can't believe it's not a respray and did Colnago ever use Shimano on a Super?
