  • Good spot , didn't notice the crimps on the rear stays
Wish I still had my Mexico

  • i miss my nuovo, was a fucking great ride ,but sold at pretty much premium market price, still got a 70's and an esa though

  • There was a conv on this subject between Saarf, Hillyben & myself stuck in the middle.

Your frame seems to be identical to mine with the rear stays, DT & TT crimped. Which leads to the conclusion of it being a Super. All those Nuovo Mexico's with double crimping on the DT are in fact Supers. going by what little information there is out there.

  • Powerful bike

  • Yes I remember seeing a pic of your esa on retrobike
    Lovely
Agree the nuovo was a great ride I sold mine to get a Master Olympic

  • i probably seem greedy, but this is nothing compared to some

  • I would say Passion , not greed
    Nice collection

  • thanks, very kind of you, basically, it's all a result of flipping/ trading bikes the last 4-5 years

  • Patfatenough, a nice read, your bike certainly got the personal treatment. I hope you still have it.

Your thread raises another clue, mine has forks with the sloping crown. OK, forks can be changed but I doubt that the previous owner would have bothered to get replacement Colnago forks considering all the other crap he hung on the poor thing.

Saarf, as above, I tend not to hang on Velobase info too religiously but I find myself warming to what you found 'Sarroni Nuovo Mexicos (1980-1985) crimped top and down tubes'. This gives me a new line of research. A quick search on Google images hints strongly towards twin crimps on the main tubes plus sloped crown forks but again, it's very much 6 of one and half a dozen of the other.

  • the evidence is plain and clear, but it's your bike, so it's whatever you imagine it is at the end of the day

  • Saarf... you said... " i think the Time Colnago branded forks first appeared with the mono titan model, so circa mid to late 90's,and the forks and crowns were usually black, so the ones above could have be stripped".

My reply was that my forks did not come with a Colnago frame. I am curious to know whether they are definitely time forks and if so what age and model they are. They might be ones which by sheer coincidence were once branded colnago but as likely as not they are normal ones.

  • Well, to be fair, the evidence is far from plain and clear. Read the above conflicting input, opinions clearly meander. Sorry if you feel I'm doubting your superior knowledge but yours is just another opinion, for which I'm grateful.

  • it always makes me laugh when people think they have something they don''t

  • never seen time forks with an unpainted crown

  • i've got a colner, bit of chrome paint on the lugs, and judicious 'hand crimping', et voila

    superissimo!

  • an esa, surely Squire?

  • Sorry if you feel I'm doubting your superior knowledge but yours is just another opinion, for which I'm grateful.

no need to apologise, i'm a bit of a wind up merchant, appologies from me
i'm nothing special and my "knowledge" is certainly not superior, i just have a little experience due to having been fortunate enough to have had most models pass through my hands
in 2009 i knew practically nothing about the brand

  • ha ha ha!

    merry fistmas :-*

  • bah humbug!
keep on keeping on and Jah Love Rastafari xxx

  • This thread is more controversial than a priest's stag

  • My bike. Yes, crappy NDS fail. An alu Dream with forks and rear stays in carbon. Purchased from @conservative_values nearly 5 years ago.

  • bet you still enjoy the ride!

  • Yes!

  • That fucking bartape though, @Sam.

If he was dead, Ernesto would be spinning in his grave. As it is, he's probably on the phone to his contacts in the Kent mafia to get them to make you an offer you can't refuse.
